Choosing The Perfect Engagement Ring
So, you see a ring in your future? Or are you the one getting ready to pop the question? Buying an engagement ring is a life mile stone and no easy task. Whether you’re the one doing the shopping or the one dropping the hints, there is more to consider then the 4 Cs (cut, color, clarity, and carat). Being prepared and doing some investigating is a must! Here are our tips for choosing the perfect engagement ring!
Time is not on your side.
Shopping: First things first, did you know that most an engagement rings are made to order? You choose a stone and a setting and then it has to be custom made. That can take up to 6 weeks or more! So, if you have a specific proposal date in mind, don’t wait till the last minute. Even a pre-set ring has to be sized, and that takes time.
Hinting: Ok ladies, we’re a little more savvy when it comes to jewelry. We have to educate our soon to be fiancé without them knowing! Make a comment about how you wanted to order something for yourself or a gift for your mom or a friend and how it won’t be ready in time because it has to be sized and set, wink, wink.

Shopping: Time to pay attention! What is your significant other’s style? Simple and classic? Vintage? Boho? Modern? What are their favorite past times? How do they dress? All of these things should give you hints as to what type of look and feel your almost wifey will love. Come up with a few key words to describe them and your jeweler will be able to point you in the right direction.
Hinting: You know that proposal is on the horizon, so don’t be afraid to drop some hints and leave some bread crumbs. Whether you’re a girly girl, tom boy or boho babe, be sure to comment on how you love dressing up like you’re on the red carpet, or how you wish you could live in yoga pants or how you love vintage everything! You may think their not listening but this info may resurface when they are probed!

Shopping: It’s time for a little reconnaissance. When the coast is clear, take a little snoop through your girls jewelry box. What style of jewelry is in there? Gold? Rose Gold? Platinum? Pay attention to what she’s been wearing recently to help get a sense of what type of size, shape, stone and metal she would gravitate towards. Don’t be afraid to snap a few pics! This is another tool you can use when shopping rings with your jeweler.
Hinting: Ok ladies, it’s go time! Don’t be shy about laying it all out there in plain sight! Get yourself some fun faux jewelry in the shape, size and style engagement ring you love! Comment to your honey about how cute your new dress up duds are. Also, be sure they catch you spying some sweet styles online or leave a magazine page open with your dream engagement ring. No hint is to subtle when it comes to putting a ring on it!
