Their Story: They both grew up in Beach Haven, but Jane Natale-Kleber, now 28, and Rob Romanowski, 30, were just friends after they met in high school. They later reconnected through a mutual friend and began dating slowly, on and off. After a time, their relationship grew serious. “He’s just the sweetest guy ever and he treats me so well,” Jane says. “I just realized what I had and then it got super-serious.” In the fall of 2012, Jane knew Rob was the man for her after she made the heartbreaking decision for her younger sister to take over the care of her beloved horse. “Rob planned a night where he rented my favorite movie, Black Beauty, and got my favorite bottle of wine and comforted me,” Jane says. “That night was definitely a turning point in our relationship. I started to fall in love with him.”
Will You Marry Me? Rob pulled off a surprise proposal during a trip to California’s Napa Valley in June 2015, although Jane had a feeling they might get engaged on the vacation. During a walk through the gorgeous grounds of a vineyard, Rob dropped to one knee and asked Jane to marry him, a moment he had arranged to be captured by a photographer. The vineyard was lush and beautiful, the perfect setting for a proposal. “He couldn’t have done a better job,” Jane says. “It was absolutely amazing. He knew me very well.”
Details of the Day: The couple married on September 24, 2016, at the Episcopal Church of Holy Innocents, Jane’s family’s church. Afterward, they welcomed their 260 guests to Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club, where the bride spent summers sailing and playing tennis. Jane, who didn’t want the reception to be all-white or too nautical, envisioned pops of color, and credits Three Crowns with creating her beautiful event. Three Crowns co-owner Kate Devaney describes the reception as eclectic by the sea, with vintage chandeliers, hand-painted lampshades and period tablecloths. “It wasn’t your typical coastal wedding,” Devaney says. “It was definitely a more sophisticated dream wedding by the sea.” Night began to fall just as everyone was sitting down for dinner. “We had an epic sunset,” Jane recalls. “It was like a cotton-candy sky.”
Favorite Moment: Walking down the aisle. “It’s such a cool feeling walking in there and it’s all coming together,” Jane says. “It’s all happening, this moment you’ll never be able to do again. It was an incredible feeling.”
Favorite Detail: Her strapless Hayley Paige wedding gown. “I couldn’t stop twirling, and I felt like a princess in it,” she says.
Honeymoon: The couple is now at home in Beach Haven after a honeymoon to South Africa and Mozambique.
