Honeymoon: Turks & Caicos

Posted on July 12, 2022 by New Jersey Bride

THIS TROPICAL DESTINATION LOCATED just 575 miles southeast of Miami is actually an archipelago made up of 40 different islands and cays—and offers so much for your first trip as a married couple. Not only is it a direct plane ride from New Jersey, but it also boasts Grace Bay Beach, one of the best beaches in the world. The white sand and turquoise waters picture here truly have to been seen to be believed.

Then there are the upscale resorts offering beachfront locations, friendly and impeccable service, all sorts of water sports, dreamy spas and luxurious rooms, suites and villas worthy of a honeymoon. While there are a few all-inclusives here, you’re better off skipping them this trip since the island’s restaurants are so good. You’ll spend your days relaxing on the beach or poolside and then get dressed up only at night for dinner. You really only need to pack bathing suits, sandals, cover-ups and casual-to-dressy attire for dinner.

For some adventure, you can snorkel the barrier reef and multiple ship wrecks, go horseback riding on the beach, take a sunset cruise, parasail over Grace Bay, kayak in the mangrove wetlands, picnic on a deserted beach, watch for dolphins, explore surrounding islands and cays and even visit the dog shelter in town to foster a potcake (their term for a stray dog) during your stay—yes, they have a program for this!

While there’s truly no bad resort on the island, we have our favorites for your honeymoon since Turks is also a big draw for families. These all provide a great honeymoon environment and adults-only options. Pick your favorite. You can’t go wrong.

Travel note at time of press: Turks & Caicos remains one of the safest islands in the Caribbean with a 76% vaccination rate and stringent Covid-19 travel requirements. All visitors ages 18 and over must be fully vaccinated to enter Turks & Caicos.

This bucket-list resort located on the more secluded western shore of the island is situated at the edge of an 18,000-acre nature reserve. This luxurious romantic hideaway offers lush tropical pavilions, a restorative wellness retreat and Caribbean cuisine with an Asian flair.

Located in the heart of Grace Bay Beach, The Palms offers laid-back luxe with 72 suites, a 25,000-square-foot spa, an infinity pool, amazing friendly service, fine dining—Parallel 23 is a must—and boutique shopping. The resort offers a free shuttle so that you can take advantage of dining at its sister properties.

White-glove service, five-star dining, the island’s only saltwater pool and the adults-only option are all just steps from the beach. Suites have four-poster beds with balconies or terraces with amazing views. Drinks at The Deck or dinner at Seven can’t be missed.

Situated on Long Bay Beach away from the action of Grace Bay is The Shore Club, Opulent suites and villas provide a relax- ing and romantic getaway. There’s an adult pool, three restaurants, three bars and the divine Dune Spa, all just steps from the ocean.

Escape to your own private island at Parrot Cay. Choose from a range of rooms, suites and homes, many with private pools and 24-hour butlers. Menus focus on freshly caught seafood, and beach picnics and tiki-hut dinners are available. Themed nights include live music.

The brand-new Ritz injects a more modern vibe to Grace Bay Beach. You’ll love the adults-only pool, private cabanas, ocean- view suites, state-of-the-art spa, excursions on the Lady Grace catamaran, a variety of restaurants including BLT Steak and the island’s only luxury casino.

Sleek and chic is what you’ll find at Wymara. Choose between a studio, suite with kitchen or private villa with your own infinity-edge plunge pool. Island pods in the pool and beach cabanas make your stay even more cosy. Weekly beach BBQs are a must;
