This NJ Couple Got Married in The Blizzard of 2026 at Park Savoy

"I was praying for snow," says the bride.

This bride prayed for snow on her wedding day—and she certainly got it.

Sedona and Kevin Origoni’s big day will be remembered for taking place during the blizzard of 2026. On Sunday, February 22, 2026, they got married at the Park Savoy Estate during the bomb cyclone that dumped several inches of snow across the Northeast.

In the days leading up to their wedding, the couple kept a close eye on the weather report.

“It started off easy at one to three [inches], and we’re like, okay, this is manageable,” says Kevin about the snow predictions. “And then it jumped up to four to six…And then all of a sudden we hear, okay, bomb cyclone, a foot and a half of snow. We’re like, whoa, this kind of escalated rather quickly.”

The bride admits that she wanted some flurries.

“Everybody that’s close to me knows I was praying for snow,” says Sedona. “I wanted that beautiful dusting background, the trees just lightly covered, just that elegant winter wedding vibe. And I got that and then some.”

The running joke at their wedding became that Sedona “manifested this bomb cyclone that almost took out our wedding,” she adds.

Humor aside, moving forward with a wedding during a blizzard meant a lot of communication with their vendors and guests.

“We just did our best to keep our composure and the venue and all of our vendors called us ahead of time and they said, ‘we’re still on. This is gonna happen,'” says Kevin.

Luckily, the Park Savoy Estate, St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison, where they had their ceremony, and the Hanover Marriott in Whipanny, where all the guests stayed, are 10 minutes away from each other.

Their ceremony at the church ended around 3:30 p.m. and the snow wasn’t sticking just yet so guests were able to get over to the Park Savoy. The couple decided to move their timeline up by one hour so cocktail hour began at 5 p.m. and their reception wrapped at 10 p.m.

Sedona and Kevin, who were both raised in Bergen County, had invited roughly 135 guests to their wedding and they think about 100 were there at some point during the day, whether at the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception or all.

Having some guests decline last minute due to the storm was a hard pill to swallow for the couple.

“There was a point we looked out from the sweetheart table and there were tables that were just completely empty, and that was hard,” says Sedona. “Their safety is important and we love them, and we understand a hundred percent why they couldn’t be there. But it was heartbreaking to feel that.”

To keep a celebratory attitude throughout their wedding day, they kept reminding themselves, “this is your wedding day no matter what, and you don’t get another opportunity. So just have a good time,” says Sedona.

The only parts of their day that took place outdoors were their couple’s portraits and a few quick wedding party shots.

Photographer Elaine Merlin Ramos, owner of Emerlin Photo and Films along with her videographer husband Leo, was up for the challenge of documenting their big day in the snow.

“As a wedding photographer and videographer, our mission is to show up no matter what,” she says.

To other couples who face unexpected circumstances on their wedding day, Elaine says, “a wedding is a live event. Trust in the process instead of worrying too much. Enjoy your day, have fun, be positive and it will be just as special as Sedona and Kevin’s wedding.”

Elaine had asked Sedona earlier in the day how the bride wanted to handle the snow and her dress, which could get dirty and wet while taking outdoor photos.

“I said to her, ‘Elaine, I am wearing this dress today. Like, this is my dress. This is my wedding day. So if it’s a blizzard, let’s go be in the blizzard. I wanted those snowy pictures, let’s get them.”

After photos, the happy couple lived it up during their reception, while the storm continued outside.

When their reception came to an end, Kevin’s parents drove the newlyweds to the hotel in their Volvo—“one of the safest cars,” notes Sedona, and “all of our guests got home safely.”

The couple credits their vendor team with pulling off their big day.

“I would definitely suggest having a good rapport with your vendors— really connecting with the people who are gonna be at your special day,” says Kevin when asked about advice he has for other couples who may face blizzard conditions.

He adds that recognizing what is out of your control on your wedding day is key. On the morning of his wedding, while coordinating with vendors, he recalls thinking, “you gotta just embrace it. We’re getting married in a blizzard.”

Sedona and Kevin leave for a mini-moon to Vermont this week and they’ll take a larger honeymoon to Italy in April. For their mini-moon, they’ll be snowmobiling and enjoying a spa day. “We’ll bring all of our snow gear with us, so we’ll be more prepared up there than we were on our wedding day for sure,” says Sedona. “The snow story does not end for us here.”
