How did you meet?

Although we only lived a town apart our entire lives, we owe it to The University of Delaware for bringing us together. We still joke that we would not be together today if it weren’t for the hat Jimmy was wearing the day we met. I have been a Jets fan my entire life, and Jimmy wearing a Jets hat prompted me to say hello. As we continued talking, we realized we were from similar hometown areas and knew many of the same people. We quickly became close friends, and the rest was history.

The proposal was perfect. It was pulled off the only way Jimmy would be able to possibly surprise me, waking me up at the crack of dawn in our new home together, wearing the Jets hat that prompted us to first talk, and popping the question! We then ventured out for a fun filled day together. First, to pick out our new puppy, River,  then to get massages and my nails done. Finally, a surprise dinner with our families at my aunt’s favorite restaurant we frequented together before her passing. I was in tears once I finally caught on to which restaurant we were going to. Jimmy knew I would have done anything for her to be part of our big day, but being at a place we shared so many memories together was really special.Lauren and James at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge

I went for a romantic, floral, neutral theme. I paired lots of greens with blush tone pinks and white. I wanted it to feel very light, airy and gardenesque. I added wood signage and gold picture frames on multiple décor tables, and the bar to tie it all together.Lauren and James at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge

I had always envisioned an indoor/outdoor wedding, full of dreamy floral, and romantic neutral tones. This venue captured it all. The beautiful lake, large grounds full of willow trees and florals, and a beautiful white tent allowed for an open natural feel.Lauren and James at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge

We had a classic cocktail hour, with passed hors d’oeuvres, cold displays and a pasta station. For the main course, we gave our guests the option of roasted chicken, Atlantic salmon or filet mignon. Our cake was multi-tiered, allowing us to have two different flavors. We choose triple chocolate and cannoli.Lauren and James at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge

I had gone to a handful of dress consultations and although I always left thinking I found something beautiful, it never felt like it was “the one.” I remembered a particular dress I saved on my Pinterest. I searched high and low to find a boutique that carried the dress. I was willing to travel almost anywhere just to try it on. I arrived at the boutique and tried on a few dresses but wanted to save the best for last. As soon as I put it on, I was in tears. It was apparent this was the one.  The details were incredibly intricate, from the beading, floral embroidery and low back, I was truly in love.Lauren and James at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge

My favorite moment was our first dance. Even though we were surrounded by almost 200 people, it felt like it was just he and I, closer than ever, sharing a moment we would remember for the rest of our lives. I can remember feeling so emotional, nothing else in the world mattered and I felt truly present.Lauren and James at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge

My florals. They were the center of my entire vision. In particular, the floral chandeliers were my absolute favorite.Lauren and James at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge

My husband and I promised each other that no matter what happened during our day, all that mattered was that we were together and finally making our dream come true. Nothing could have gone wrong when saying “I do” was on our to-do list.Lauren and James at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge

The year leading up to your wedding, try to complete at least one task each month. A lot of little things come up toward the last months prior to your big day, so if you have already accomplished most of your to-dos you won’t be as stressed! Most importantly, your wedding day can be stressful, so try your best to remember what truly matters. You are finally marrying the love of your life, and the best is yet to come.Lauren and James at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge
