A Seaside Elegance Fourth of July Wedding at The Avenue

For Jeanette and Derek, The Avenue wasn’t just a wedding venue — it was their place. Every Fourth of July since their first together, the couple had celebrated the holiday there, so when they found themselves at the venue for cocktails one March evening and floated the idea of sharing their favorite holiday and favorite spot with the people they love most, it felt less like a decision and more like an inevitability. Four months later, on July 4, 2025, beautifully photographed by Cyan Blue Photography, they were married there. The celebration was seaside elegant — dusty blues, pastel pink florals by Peter James Calafiore, butlered entrees, and a cocktail-style reception designed to feel like the most elevated, intimate party they’d ever thrown. And as the fireworks began to launch, the couple slipped away for a private moment together, looked back at their loved ones all gathered around them, and watched the sky light up as a welcome to everything that came next.

Their Story

“A cold and snowy winter evening we both found ourselves a distance from home and sheltering from the snow at a famous margarita bar – El Vez. We caught each others attention, and this relationship has been blossoming and ever since.”

The Proposal

“Our engagement was a surprise, in Miami, on vacation, just the two of us, at midnight on the beach.”

Choosing the Venue

“Every year, since our first, we have spent our Fourth of July at the same restaurant & fireworks display. This year, we happened to be there for cocktails in March, floated the idea of sharing our favorite holiday and favorite venue with our loved ones for our wedding; and somehow our date was available. We had a whirlwind four months from idea to ‘I do.'”

Details of the Day

The theme was “seaside elegance”. There was cocktail-style reception and butlered entrees. “Our goal was to host an elegant, elevated cocktail party,” says Jeanette.

“Our color palate was made of dusty blues, with a touch of pastel pink in the wedding party flowers.”

Favorite Moment

“Our favorite moment was our private moment as the fireworks began to launch; looking back we saw our loved ones all surrounding us, in awe of the scene, and the fireworks ahead of us, as a welcome to a brand new life, future, and partnership.”

“Everything we worked so hard for culminated into the most majestic moments of our lives. The wedding was, above all, for the two of us and to display our love in front of those we care most about. We could have acquiesced to the million requests, opinions, expectations and social norms with our wedding – and yet we committed to making our wedding the most authentically “us” event possible.”

“The guest feedback afterwards let us know that the event was as perfect in everyone else’s eyes as we hoped and planned. The wedding – the first thing we shared as a married couple – feels like perfection when we take pause for reflection. And we will have this one night for the memories and the foundation of our entire future together.”

Honeymoon

The newlyweds went to Mexico and Miami. “We flew to Playa Mujeres and spent a week in all-inclusive luxury. We then took the long way home through Miami and stayed a few more days to delve into all the culinary wonders Miami has to offer.”
