After 43 Weddings as Guests, This Couple Knew Exactly What They Wanted at Union League National

Union League National

When you’ve attended 43 weddings together before your own, you know exactly what you love—and what you’d do differently. Jennifer and Kristian brought that hard-won perspective to every detail of their October 18, 2025 celebration at Union League National in Cape May Court House, beautifully photographed by Alex Schon Photography. The result was a wedding that felt timeless, personal, and completely true to them: a garden-meets-coastal aesthetic in soft sage, classic blue, and ivory; organic florals by Wild Indigo with an airy, slightly unstructured feel; subtle nods to Kristian’s Chinese heritage woven throughout; a putting game and boat cooler for guests that nodded to their shared love of the Shore; and a memory table honoring the family and friends who couldn’t be there in person.

Their Story

“We met during a crowded happy hour at Harper’s Garden in Philadelphia. Kristian was on crutches at the time, which immediately caught my attention and sparked our first conversation. As we talked, we realized we shared so many mutual friends and connections, and the conversation flowed effortlessly from there,” says Jennifer.

Details of the Day

The design for the day was a thoughtful blend of garden romance and subtle nautical influence, creating an aesthetic that felt both refined and playfully unexpected. The color palette centered around soft sage, classic blues, and ivory. Florals leaned into a garden-inspired style, featuring organic textures and a mix of delicate blooms arranged in an airy, slightly unstructured way. Nautical elements were incorporated in a way that reflected the couples love for the Shore.

Favorite Moment

“Our favorite part of the day was being surrounded by all of our family and friends—everyone we love most in one place celebrating with us. We felt incredibly special and loved throughout the entire day. On top of our family and friends our incredible vendors and the Union League staff made the day so great. Some of our favorite memories were being on the dance floor together with everyone and continuing the celebration at the after party at The Princeton.”

Detail They Couldn’t Live Without

“The details were incredibly important to us. After attending 43 weddings together, we had a clear vision of what we loved and wanted our day to feel timeless, personal, and fun while still feeling completely true to us as a couple.”

“We incorporated subtle nods to Kristian’s Chinese heritage, added playful touches like a putting game for guests and a boat cooler, and leaned into coastal-inspired details that still felt refined and elevated.”

“One of the most meaningful elements of the day was our memory table, which honored the family members and friends we wish could have been there with us in person. It was incredibly important to us to recognize them and feel their presence with us throughout the celebration.”
