“My fiancé and I met in his city of Staten Island, New York. It was on February 4, 2012 at a club called Z TWO. My friend had dragged me out after a LONG shift at work for a night out! (Thank god I went, Right?) Fast forwarding to the day of our engagement. It took place on January 17, 2015. It was a Saturday and the best Saturday of my life, however I just didn’t know it yet! That day, we had my cousin’s 1st Birthday party at my favorite place on earth: Liberty House at the Liberty State Park! As we were walking in to the party my fiancé had mentioned before we leave he would like to take a picture of the skyline. (I didn’t even think twice.) We had an amazing time at the party, it was gorgeous and the view (as always) is breathtaking. As we were walking to the car he said “Let’s go take a picture” and leave it up to me to resist and make every excuse in the book why not to. (Especially because it was 20 degrees!) We got into the car and drove to the end of the park and parked in a parking lot where there wasn’t a person in site! He asked me if I would like to get out of the car with him while he took a picture of the skyline. AGAIN, I resisted and said “OMG it’s too cold,” but he begged and begged. So finally, I caved! We walked to the board walk which is on the water and has the best view of New York City. As I was taking the “infamous photo” he had been talking about ALL DAY, he was also taking a photo behind me. Then I hear his voice from behind me as he says “What do you think of this view?” As I am turning around responding “OMG I love … ” He cuts me off mid-sentence, gets down on one knee and says, “What do you think about me asking you to marry me??” At that very moment, I forgot how to speak and IMMEDIATELY started crying. When I remembered how to speak again, every sentence was “OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD.” After sounding like broken record for about thirty seconds repeating the same thing over and over again I said “Does my Dad know?” Being such a princess and Daddy’s Girl … I NEEDED TO KNOW! He said of course he does, WELL IS IT A YES? It obviously was but I thought it was funny 🙂 The location where he proposed means so much to me for so many reasons. My fiance is from New York (which we were looking at) and I am from New Jersey (where we were). So to me, we were at two places at once becoming one. We have set our wedding date for September 16, 2016. I cannot wait to marry my prince charming and spend the rest of our lives together.” Photos by John Arcara Photography
