On January 10, 2026, the wedding of Conal and Melissa at Park Savoy unfolded as more than a celebration. The couple found so many ways to unite Melissa’s Italian heritage with Conal’s Irish roots, including traditional Irish musicians during cocktail hour and dancers during the reception. Deep green tones, dramatic candlelight and gothic gold accents were the main aesthetic. Stacey Sainato of Peony Events (who we recently interviewed about Tips for Tipping Vendors) was their wedding planner.

Their Story

Their story began with an ease that both of them recognized early. Friends often describe their personalities as very different, yet perfectly balanced. Melissa later recalled that the first time Conal hugged her, it felt like home. That feeling set the tone for the relationship that followed.

Both were older and clear about what they wanted from life. The relationship moved forward naturally and confidently. During their early years together they traveled widely, building memories across Paris, London, a road trip through California, and weekends in Miami. Before long, they were planning something more permanent and purchased a home together in New Jersey.

The Proposal

The engagement arrived in a moment that perfectly reflected Conal’s personality.

The couple hosted a housewarming party in their backyard surrounded by friends and family. Melissa had no idea what was coming. Conal took the microphone and began what many assumed was simply another one of his speeches. He spoke about the home they had built together, his journey to America, and the life they were building.

Then he turned to Melissa, dropped to one knee, and asked her to marry him. Caught off guard, Melissa laughed and nearly disrupted the moment by blurting out, “I don’t know what to do, do I take it?” The answer, of course, was yes.

Choosing the Venue

A few days later, Melissa’s goddaughter, one of the most important people in her life, asked where the wedding would take place. Melissa admitted she had no idea. Together they began searching venues and quickly discovered the Park Savoy. The moment Melissa saw it, she knew it was the one. The historic estate setting felt warm and authentic rather than formal and impersonal. When Conal visited, he needed little convincing. The chapel looks out over a golf course and the downstairs cigar room sealed the decision.

Planning the Wedding

From the beginning of their engagement, the couple held a clear vision for the celebration. They are naturally hands on and capable of managing details themselves, yet they made an early decision to bring in an expert who could elevate the experience and guide the process.

After attending a wedding expo and facing an overwhelming number of options, they met wedding planner Stacey of Peony Events. From their first meeting, Stacey provided structure and reassurance. She listened carefully to their ideas and translated them into a clear plan. Over the following year she coordinated vendors, negotiated contracts, aligned timelines, and introduced creative partners who would ultimately shape the aesthetic and experience of the celebration.

One of Stacey’s early introductions helped establish the visual tone for the entire wedding. The couple partnered with Little Black Dress Paperie to design their stationary suite. The save the dates featured a deep green velvet inspired design paired with custom Irish immigration heritage stamps. The invitations continued the theme with rich green and gold tones, the Duffy tartan incorporated into the design, and envelopes sealed with wax bearing the Duffy coat of arms. From the moment guests received the first mailing, the tone of the celebration was clear.

Details of the Day

Friends and family traveled great distances to celebrate the couple. Guests arrived from across the United States as well as from Ireland, Scotland, and England, turning the gathering into an international reunion of family and lifelong friendships.

The first impression on the wedding day reflected Conal’s Irish heritage. As guests arrived at the Park Savoy, live traditional Irish music performed by Poor Man’s Gambit greeted them at the entrance. In their hands were perfectly poured Guinness and warm Irish coffee served by close friend Dwyane Keeney of The Old Fashioned Cocktail Co. The combination of music, winter air, and hospitality created an unforgettable welcome.

Behind the scenes, the venue team ensured the day unfolded flawlessly. Sam worked closely with the couple throughout planning, offering guidance and solutions whenever needed. On the wedding day, Vinny and Dan oversaw the operation with precision, ensuring service, timing, and coordination moved effortlessly from one moment to the next.

Food became one of the defining elements of the celebration. From the initial tasting, the couple knew the culinary team at Park Savoy would deliver. Cocktail hour featured an expansive array of stations and passed hors d’oeuvres that seemed endless. Reception courses followed with impeccable timing and presentation, serving more than 220 guests with consistency and elegance.

Entertainment also played a central role. After an early setback with another band, the venue recommended EMG. EMG introduced them to several bands before they selected Electric Boulevard for their energy and range. Under the leadership of Lavelle, the entertainment team coordinated the ceremony music, sound, lighting and reception flow. A live string quartet performed during the chapel ceremony, creating an elegant and cinematic beginning.

When the reception began, traditional Irish dancers from JigGig Dance led the couple’s entrance. Brandon and Andy worked closely with the band and production team to choreograph the sequence, ensuring the moment felt powerful and seamless.

Inside the ballroom, Melissa’s design vision came to life. As a designer herself, aesthetics were central to the experience. The room featured deep green tones, dramatic candlelight, and gothic gold accents. Floral designer Deb from Peonies to Paint Chips translated Melissa’s concept into a romantic environment defined more by candles than flowers.

Melissa approached the day in her own style. While many brides follow tradition, she made the look her own. She wore a sweatsuit while getting ready and Vans during the reception. Instead of carrying a bouquet, she kept the design clean and minimal, allowing the environment to speak for itself.

Capturing the day required a team equally aligned with the couple’s vision. Photographer Heather Pauline and her team approached the day with exceptional structure and timing. Because rain fell throughout the day, Heather and her team made creative use of natural light and the elegant interior spaces of Park Savoy.

Videography was captured by Fiore Films, whose cinematic style complemented the photography beautifully.

Details They Couldn’t Live Without

The couple’s attention to craftsmanship extended to every personal detail. Conal’s bespoke tuxedo and the groomsmen’s suits were created by Robbie Suits & Co. Their ties were custom made in Ireland using Irish wool in the Duffy tartan.

Even the wedding rings carried family meaning. Conal’s ring originally belonged to Melissa’s great grandfather from Italy. Dennis Dalton Jewelry resized and redesigned the heirloom band, incorporating a subtle Celtic knot pattern that symbolically united Melissa’s Italian heritage with Conal’s Irish roots.

Another highlight of the evening was the wedding cake created by Vincenzo Salvatore Cakes. Because Melissa has a dairy allergy, Vincenzo worked closely with the couple to create a balanced and elegant selection of flavors that everyone could enjoy.

As the night progressed, Electric Boulevard kept the dance floor packed with guests of every age group.

Before departing, guests received a memorable favor tied to the couple’s close friendships. Each guest received a candle featuring the couple’s signature scent created by close friend and renowned perfumer Mike Carby. Carby is known for creating the fragrance “Carby Musk,” famously named after him by Drake in both a cologne and candle. For the wedding, he developed a custom scent that guests could take home, allowing the memory of the evening to live on long after the celebration.

The result was a wedding that felt less like a single event and more like a fully orchestrated experience. Through Irish heritage, thoughtful design, exceptional cuisine, and a carefully chosen team of professionals, Conal and Melissa created a celebration that honored their story while leaving a lasting impression on every guest who attended.

Honeymoon

Following the celebration, the couple planned a honeymoon to Ireland to visit family and friends who were unable to travel for the wedding. Later in the year they will continue their travels with a second honeymoon to Japan.
