Two Days, Two Cultures, One Unforgettable Weekend at Lucien’s Manor

When Heather and Kinjal envisioned their wedding, one day simply wasn’t enough. Their Valentine’s Day weekend celebration at Lucien’s Manor in Berlin, beautifully photographed by Natali and Kate, unfolded over two intentional, deeply meaningful days that honored both their cultures with equal reverence and care. On February 15, Kinjal arrived at the baraat on horseback, accompanied by a live drummer, as a pundit led the sacred Hindu ceremony in Sanskrit beneath a mandap transformed by Anthony and Sage Floral Design into something breathtaking. The following day, a Jewish ceremony saw him step on glass before the celebration began. Between the two days, guests witnessed surprise dances from the couple’s nephew and bridal party, a tender mother-son dance in which Kinjal knelt to honor his mother, a father-daughter dance that moved the room, and a first dance to “A Whole New World.” Rich reds and vibrant pinks—colors chosen to honor both Valentine’s Day and the profound significance of red in Indian bridal tradition—were carried throughout every detail of the weekend.

Their Story

What began as a chance meeting at a local bar turned into a real-life fairytale for Heather and Kinjal, whose Valentine’s Day weekend wedding celebrated not only their love, but the beautiful blending of cultures, families, and traditions.

The Proposal

Then came the moment every girl dreams of, a true fairytale proposal, high above the city at The Edge in Manhattan. Surrounded by sweeping views that felt as endless as their love, they began their beautiful forever. To this day, it remains the easiest, fastest, and most certain “yes” of Heather’s life.

Since finding one another, Ken and Heather have experienced life’s highest highs together, sharing clarity, depth, and perspective, continuously lifting each other to exhilarating new heights.

Choosing the Venue

“The venue was magical. And we had it all to ourselves,” says Heather. “The opulence, elegance and vibe spoke to us from the moment we walked in. The staff were able to accommodate our vision of fusing both cultures throughout both wedding days which was really important to us.”

Details of the Day

Set at the opulent and stunning Lucien’s in Berlin, the two-day celebration was filled with romance, intention and unforgettable moments. From the very first event, the love between Heather and Ken, and the deep support from both families, was palpable in every room.

“Our wedding took place over Valentine’s Day weekend, intentionally chosen to reflect the rare kind of love we share as soulmates,” says Heather. “The celebration was designed to feel magical and deeply romantic. Our color palette drew inspiration from Valentine’s Day, featuring rich reds and vibrant shades of pink. Red holds profound significance in Indian wedding traditions.”

The bride’s lehenga in red represents the promise of a joyful, abundant life. It is also associated with the goddess Durga, who embodies strength, protection, and new beginnings. By wearing red, a bride is believed to invite these blessings into her marriage, the color itself signifies love and prosperity.

“Our floral designer spent countless hours transforming the chuppah and mandap, ensuring each was meticulously distinct while remaining equally breathtaking for their respective cultural ceremonies.”

“The culinary experience was just as memorable: abundant, indulgent, and thoughtfully curated to delight every palate.”

Favorite Moment

“On February 15, the baraat was nothing short of unforgettable: Ken arrived on a real-life horse dressed for the occasion, accompanied by a drummer that energized the celebration and set the tone for the day. A pundit led the sacred ceremony in Sanskrit, the holiest of languages,” says Heather.

“On February 16, Ken stepped on a glass, symbolizing the unbreakable finality of the union. The shattered glass mirrored the irrevocable nature of the marriage vows and marked the joyful beginning of the celebration to follow.”

“The evening continued with heartfelt speeches and unforgettable surprise dances from their nephew and the bridal party, moments that were deeply touching and will be cherished forever. One of the most emotional moments of the weekend came during the couple’s first dance to ‘A Whole New World,’ which left guests in tears, many convinced the couple had taken professional dance lessons. Ken knelt before his mother during their dance to honor her and Heather shared a tender dance with her father.”

Wedding Day Attire

At the Indian wedding, Heather wore a custom-made lehenga handcrafted in India while Ken donned a perfectly tailored kurta. Every immediate family member wore custom outfits brought from India by Ken’s parents. The bridal party surprised Heather by arriving in stunning shades of purple, each dressed in beautiful Indian attire, creating a moment that was both unexpected and breathtaking. The groomsmen complemented the celebration in matching kurtas, creating a cohesive and timeless look that honored tradition with effortless elegance.

At the American wedding, Heather embodied pure romance in a custom-made gown fit for a princess, complete with an extraordinary long train and veil detailed with glitz and glam. Custom sleeves were added with sparkle and pearls that were perfect for a winter wonderland wedding. The bridal party was dressed in romantic shades of red and vibrant pinks, accented with matching bowties for the groomsmen that added a playful yet polished touch to the celebration.

Advice For Other Couples

“Stay true to what matters most to you and don’t be afraid to fuse cultures and traditions,” says Heather. “When love leads, everything else falls into place and you’ll see the heart work of planning come to life! Our loved seeing both of our cultures honored so intentionally, from sacred ceremonies to meaningful dances , while still feeling completely ‘us.’”

Honeymoon

“We went to the beautiful Barbados, Secrets for one week in March. It was the perfect combination of fun, adventure, relaxation and romance. We enjoyed a private tour of the island, seeing Rihanna’s childhood home, and feeding monkeys, a honeymoon dream come true.”
