Their Venue Closed Eight Months Before the Wedding—The Marigold Made Everything Right

The Marigold

When The Estate at Farrington Lake announced it was closing and canceling all events in February 2025, Jessica and Jack did what some couples in that situation can’t quite manage: they stayed calm, stayed open-minded and found something even better. The Marigold had their date available, and from the moment they connected with coordinator Lisa, the panic dissolved. Their November 1, 2025 wedding, beautifully photographed by Elysia by Swapnil, embraced everything the season had to offer—fall foliage, warm tones, and an elegance that felt natural rather than forced. Jessica’s mom designed the aisle arrangements and Jack’s mom created the centerpieces, filling the space with a warmth no florist could replicate. The Wedding Crashers kept the dance floor packed all night, and at the reception Jessica made her second entrance in a jumpsuit made from her mother’s wedding dress.

Their Story

In April 2019, they planned to meet for their first date at a classy bar in Jersey City, but Jack arrived early to find it closed for renovations. Thinking quickly, he called Jess and suggested a dive bar called Lucky 7 instead. They talked and laughed for hours, circling the blocks of Jersey City until 3am. The rest is history.

The Proposal

In June 2024, Jack carefully planned a surprise date, now known as the “pink dress date.” Their first stop was very meaningful: the place where they first said “I love you.” Moments after arriving, Jessica turned to find Jack down on one knee.

Afterward, they went to Irving Public in Jersey City, where family and friends were waiting to celebrate!

Choosing the Venue

“Our first venue, The Estate at Farrington Lake, announced in February 2025 that it was closing and cancelling all events,” says Jessica. “After some panic, we found The Marigold, which had our date available. Lisa was incredible and immediately put us at ease. The space is stunning, with beautiful ceremony options and an efficient reception layout-it felt perfect.”

Details of the Day

“From the very start of planning, we prioritized great food, good music, and strong drinks. Our decor was elegant and simple, embracing fall colors while letting the natural beauty of the changing leaves and trees shine,” says Jessica.

Jessica’s mom designed the beautiful aisle arrangements, while Jack’s mom created the centerpieces. Jessica carried a bouquet of white roses, and her bridesmaids held pale pink roses. Guests received thoughtful favors, including custom matchboxes, and bottle openers.

Favorite Moment

“Our favorite moment came from advice we received from a close family friend: to pause during the reception and take it all in together,” says Jessica. “Standing in the middle of the dance floor, we slowly looked around at all our favorite people, from every part of our lives, dancing and celebrating. We truly soaked in the moment.”

Wedding Day Attire

Jessica wore a beaded Casablanca ivory gown with Nina satin pumps. Bridesmaids chose their own color and style of Azazie gowns in stretch satin. Jack and groomsmen wore The Black Tux with leopard pocket squares and custom bolo ties. At the reception, Jess changed into a jumpsuit made from her mom’s wedding dress, and Jack into a Phix sequin shirt.

Advice For Other Couples

“Don’t lose sight of what your wedding is truly about,” says the couple. “It’s easy to get caught up in the details and pressure of planning, but remember to enjoy the journey. Unexpected things will happen, like our venue closing, but staying open-minded can ease stress and make the experience even more meaningful.”

Honeymoon

The newlyweds honeymooned in Spain and along the stunning Spanish coast in May 2026, beginning their journey in Barcelona and spending two weeks making their way south before settling in Marbella.
“As our first trip to Europe, we couldn’t be more excited to soak in the incredible food, culture, and breathtaking coastal views while exploring charming towns.”
