One Wore Black, One Wore Green, and Their Florist’s Brief Was “Weird and Witchy” at The Water Witch Club
When Carly and Jen chose The Water Witch Club in Monmouth County for their September 20, 2025 wedding, the historic venue—all dark wood and soaring ceilings — needed almost nothing from them, and that was exactly the point. No color palette, no theme, no decor beyond flowers and photographs of the two of them. Their florist at Mayflowers of Red Bank was given one direction: weird and witchy. Their gowns—both custom-designed by friend and “beautiful genius” Gilberto Pena—featured hand-stitched embroidery, with Carly in black and Jen in green with a lace back. The Proposal
“I proposed to Jen at Dream Lake at Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, Colorado. I had to convince her to walk out on a melting frozen lake..she caved eventually,” explains Carly.
“She then returned the favor and proposed to me at one of her shows at Red Tank Brewing in front of our friends and family.”
Details of the Day
“The Water Witch Club is a historic building in Monmouth County. It is decked out in dark wood, with high ceilings in the ballroom. Our goal was to leave it as natural as possible. We didn’t have a theme, nor colors, not even decor outside of flowers and photos of my wife and I.”

Wedding Day Attire
“We didn’t have a wedding party, but our dresses were designed by our good friend, Gilberto Pena. The man is a beautiful genius! Our dresses were very similar, with hand stitched embroidery. I wore black and Jen wore green with a lace back.”

“Go to couples therapy a few months before the wedding.
“You can’t plan enough. Utilize the spreadsheets the wedding websites have and tailor them to what works for you.”
