This Dad Dared His Daughter to Talk to Her Future Husband
Jack and Danielle wed on August 24, 2024, at Hamilton Farm Golf Club.
Their Story
“Jack and I met all thanks to my dad!” explains Danielle. “Jack had just joined our golf club in Spring of 2020 and became golfing buddies with my dad (thankfully!).”
“After their first round together, my dad came home gushing about Jack and insisting I meet him.”
“One night, my family was having dinner at the club and my dad dared me to drive a beer out to Jack on the 3rd hole of the course to break the ice,” says Danielle.
The Proposal
Jack proposed on the 14th hole at Watchung Valley Golf Club, which was very special because that course is where they first met and where Danielle’s parents got married about 30 years earlier.
“He was originally supposed to propose on the 3rd hole, where we technically met,” says Danielle, “but he was playing well and decided to do it later in the round.”
Details of the Day
The design vision was meant to be soft, classic and romantic.
“We incorporated lush summer florals in airy, muted tones with pops of powder blue and paired them with a more modern garden drapey look in many areas,” says Danielle.
Guests experienced breaktaking European-like views at Hamilton Farm Golf Club, such as a massive ivy-draped tree leading guests from ceremony to cocktail hour.
Choosing the Venue
Hamilton Farm Golf Club was the very first venue they looked at. “Golf is very important to us, so we wanted a beautiful course that also had the ability to throw an amazing wedding,” says Danielle.
Favorite Moment
Their favorite moment of the day was the first look.
“It was such a special moment between just the two of us that completely relaxed all nerves. Juliana (photographer) and her team captured the moment perfectly. She made Jack and me feel so comfortable in front of the camera while also letting us naturally have that intimate moment for us,” says Danielle.
Detail They Couldn’t Live Without
“The day would not have gone as seamlessly as it did without Juliana Tomlinson, our photographer, and Kathleen Deo, our wedding planner,” says Danielle. “They handled all the behind-the-scenes details so that Jack and I felt like guests at our own wedding and were able to truly enjoy every minute.”
Wedding Day Attire
“My mom saw the dress on another bride one bay over, at Elizabeth Johns in Morristown,” says Danielle. “I had a few minor alterations to make to the dress original to me.”
Jack designed a custom navy blue tuxedo from Suit Supply, and he embroidered on the collar. Later on at the wedding, he changed into black high top Converse in honor of his father.
Advice For Other Couples
“Take your time and celebrate the wedding planning,” says Danielle. “Jack and I would take a moment to pop a mini bottle of champagne and note on the cork the planning milestone we completed. Towards our wedding date, everything was becoming a celebration!”
Honeymoon
The newlyweds did a “mini” moon in Charleston, SC for a few days.
“We took a day between the wedding and our trip to regroup and recap with family, which was great so it did not feel like such a whirlwind and we had energy to enjoy our vacation together,” says Danielle.
