A Timeless Black-And-White Wedding With Sweet Bow Details
Callie and Daniel got married at the Estate at Florentine Gardens on June 1, 2023.
Their Story
When Callie Lo met Danny Lavin at a housewarming party in Hoboken in July 2020, he was sporting long hair and didn’t look like her usual type. But after he cracked a joke, they talked the whole night, and he walked her home and asked for her number.
On their first date a few weeks later, Danny showed up with a different look. “He had cut his hair and looked so cute and different and handsome,” Callie recalls. Callie liked that Danny was funny and confident. “The conversation was so easy and flowing,” she says.
They bonded over being hard workers and valuing their families. Everything felt right. “I’m Type A, and it’s really easy to be myself around him,” Callie says. “He’s so patient, very easy to confide in and talk to, and he’s a good listener.”
The Proposal
On June 1, 2023, the night before the couple was leaving for vacation, Danny asked Callie to walk to the bank.
He stopped outside the apartment where they first met, dropped to one knee on the sidewalk and surprised her with a proposal.
“It was so cute, and we will always have that memory,” says Callie, who thought he would pop the question on their trip.
Details of the Day
The couple tied the knot on August 16, 2024, at The Estate at Florentine Gardens in River Vale in a stunning black-and-white affair.
They walked down an aisle lined with white rose petals and said “I do” in front of high windows that let the sunlight in.
Callie wanted her wedding to have minimal color and an aesthetic that would stand the test of time. “I knew from day one that I wanted everything to be white,” Callie says. “It gives off a clean and elegant feeling and also classic and timeless.”
Callie’s gown featured a sweet bow on the back, and she incorporated bows throughout the wedding: They decorated her bridal shoes, the menu card, the cake, stemware and her second dress.
Beautiful white floral arrangements and votives created a romantic feel in the gorgeous ballroom. “It was literally the best day of my life,” Callie says. “It was perfect.”
Favorite Moment
The reception featured a live band and a DJ. Everyone danced to classic wedding tunes early in the evening and partied with electronic dance music and white light-up cowboy hats as the night went on.
“Closer to the end, everyone was throwing me and Danny up in the air,” Callie says. “It was so much fun. I don’t think anything I’ll ever do will be as fun as that.”
Detail They Couldn’t Live Without
The bride loved the white rose petals that guests tossed during the ceremony recessional.
Callie made paper cones that held the petals that read: When they exit as a pair, throw the petals in the air. “The pictures came out so cute,” Callie says.
Advice For Other Couples
“Looking back, I’d say enjoy every moment, even the most annoying aspects, because it goes by so fast,” Callie says. “Relish every moment.”
Honeymoon
After a trip to Thailand and the Maldives, the couple is back home in Hoboken.
