What We Know About ‘The Golden Bachelor’ Wedding: New Jersey’s Theresa Nist Marries Gerry Turner

This Jersey girl’s officially off the market!

Proving that it’s never too late to find love, “Golden Bachelor” couple Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner tied the knot on Thursday in a beautiful wedding at the La Quinta Resort & Club in California, which was televised live in an ABC special dubbed “The Golden Wedding.”

Although they were thousands of miles away from her Shrewsbury hometown, Theresa, 70, and Gerry, 72, made things very personal by writing emotional vows, which they exchanged in front of family, friends and other members of Bachelor Nation. Theresa and Gerry each have two children; Theresa has six grandchildren and Gerry has two.

Susan Noles, a contestant from Gerry’s season, officiated the ceremony.

Theresa added a dose of humor to her vows by poking fun at their ages, as this was the first time the “Bachelor” franchise saw a senior citizen at its helm. “I promise to…stick with you throughout it all,” she said. “But most of all, to have fun for the rest of the days that we have left on this earth, which could be another hour.”

Although their wedding was in Cali, retired restauranteur Gerry is from Indiana and financial services professional Theresa hails from the Garden State.

In fact, Theresa was one of three contestants from New Jersey this season. During hometowns week, Gerry visited Theresa and her family in Shrewsbury. In that episode, Theresa revealed that she had not introduced any man to her family since her husband passed away, so she was a little nervous. Her sisters, daughter and three grandsons seemed to enjoy their time with Gerry and reassured Theresa that they approved of him.

Throughout the season, Gerry and Theresa bonded over losing their previous spouses, who they were each married to for more than 40 years. At the conclusion of the first-ever season of “The Golden Bachelor,” Theresa received the final rose and an engagement ring in the episode that aired on November 30, 2023.

The pair didn’t wait long before saying “I do” just a fews days into 2024.

ABC is sending the couple on a trip to Italy, which will serve as their honeymoon.

Where will Gerry and Theresa settle down? They could choose New Jersey, according to People. The couple previously considered relocating to North Carolina, but the Garden State is also an option. “I like that area,” says Gerry about Monmouth County’s Shrewsbury, “and Theresa’s home is 15 minutes from the ocean, and that is so attractive to me…We’ll find the spot that we’re both happy with.”
