We met about four years ago, Mike was celebrating his birthday with friends out in Hoboken while I was there separately with my friends. We went to the same high school, but we never spoke to each other, so he came and introduced himself to me. We spent the rest of the night talking and dancing the night away.
Michael had dropped many months of hints and we talked about taking the next step in our lives. One night, Michael had planned a game night with a few of our very close friends in our home. Unexpectedly in the middle of a game, he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
Since I was having a fall outdoor wedding ceremony, I wanted to go a little different than your typical burgundy colors. Instead I opted for a dusty gray for my beautiful bridesmaids and navy-blue suits for my groomsmen. The colors looked amazing against the colors of the fall leaves!
The second I stepped foot into the Estate at Farrington Lake, I knew it was the one. The ceremony and cocktail spaces overlook a lake, surrounded by many trees, making it a perfect fall wedding location. The reception space is unspeakable! A beautiful bar, gorgeous chandeliers, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the trees and pergola to keep everyone wowed all night long. It’s literally the most perfect venue! Also, the service you get from Syed and Nikki is unbelievable. They truly make you feel like family, and go above and beyond to make your day special.
All about your gown!
I went to Park Avenue Bridals for my wedding dress and fell absolutely in love with the second dress I had tried on. It was a lace, sweetheart, A-line dress with a beautiful train and cathedral veil. Seeing the faces of my friends and family when I came out of the dressing room put it all in perspective to me, and I knew that this was the dress I was meant to marry my best friend in.
What was your favorite moment?
My favorite moment was when my husband and I took a step back from all the dancing and festivities, and took a look around the room. Seeing our family and friends all together, having the best time celebrating our love, meant everything to us.
One detail you couldn’t live without?
My veil was absolutely everything! It was the once piece I had that really made me feel like a princess.
Did anything go wrong?
On the morning of my wedding day, it torrential rained. Unfortunately due to this, our venue had to put a tent up for our ceremony, which really wasn’t what I had pictured. Right before our first look, the sun came out and we were able to have a beautiful ceremony.
First dance song?
We did two songs! We started with “Yours,” by Russell Dickerson. Since I am Dominican, we decided to surprise our guests and did a Spanish bachata to “Inmortal,” by Aventura.
Any advice for future brides?
Don’t sweat the little things! I promise it won’t matter on your day and stressing about them will only ruin your time. Also, get yourself a wedding planner if not, coordinator. If you are type-A, like I am, hire someone you will trust to handle all of the details of your day and make sure everything runs smoothly.
Honeymoon location:
We mini-mooned in the Dominican Republic after our wedding. We were planning on going to Greece for our honeymoon, but unfortunately due to Covid that was not possible.
