Emily and Michael at Pleasantdale Chateau

Michael and I met during summer of 2014. We went to the same high school but graduated different years. Michael was in class with my brother, Mario, which was how we met during a pick-up game of soccer.

It was a beautiful sunny morning on Long Beach Island. We were just coming back from Sunday mass and Michael wanted to “check out the surf”. He then lead me to the beach and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Since we got married in July, I wanted to have bright, vibrant colors. My bridesmaids wore beautiful fuchsia gown with bright crystal straps. My bridal bouquet had a variety of in season white flowers while my bridesmaids and groomsmen had purple, pink and blush flowers as an accent.

If you have been to the Pleasantdale Chateau as a guest, its hard to imagine not getting married there in the future! We attended a friends wedding in 2017 and both my husband and I fell in love with the castle and dreamed of getting married there one day. When it was time to start looking for venues once we were engaged, our first tour was the Pleasantdale Chateau with my mom and we booked on the spot!

All our guests could talk about was the cocktail hour! We had over fifteen cocktail stations at our wedding. We had two international cuisines which was Asian and Mexican, raw seafood bar, carving station, roasted pig, fresh made mozzarella, numerous pasta stations, just to name a few. Our cake was classic vanilla cake with chocolate mouse filling which suited both of our favorites!

I am in love with my wedding dress. I can only hope, like every mother does, that my future daughter will wear my dress. I had a hard time finding “the one” I went to three shops, tried on over 40 dresses before I said “yes” to the dress. I had envisioned myself in a mermaid style but once I tried on a ball gown, I knew I felt like a bride. I found my dress with my mother at Castle Couture. The designer is Maggie Sottero and the dress name is Glenn. What I loved most about my dress was the stunning 6 foot train. My dress was originally strapless but we customized off the shoulder straps to finish this timeless, classic dress.

My favorite moment was walking down the aisle with my father to meet Michael at the alter. I had so many emotions at this point and I couldn’t stop crying until after the first reading at church. Another special moment my husband and I spoke about was the private cocktail hour we had before our grand entrance. The Pleasantdale provided us a private suite which included all samples from the cocktail hour which gave us a little break and time to enjoy each other before the reception.

Unfortunately the air conditioner broke during our wedding mass. It was a hot July afternoon. The program fans which I made definitely came in handy for our guests!

My advice for brides is to do keep a journal of everything from your engagement to your honeymoon! I wish someone would have suggested it to me. The year flies by with so many special moments. Photos are amazing but reading your emotions & details in your journal is something you can relive for years to come.

Our first stop on our honeymoon was San Francisco. We then flew to Maui for four nights then flew to Kauai, Hawaii.
