Their story: We met in late November 2012 through mutual friends. We struck up a conversation over drinks at a bar in Morristown, and continued our conversation over the course of the next several weeks. Will you marry me?: Michael proposed to me at the top of Haleakala volcano in Maui, Hawaii, at sunset. I had no idea what was planned for the day, and with the help of several friends, the moment went off seamlessly. Details of the day: We recently purchased our first home and chose to both get ready at home. After getting hair and makeup done at the salon, the ladies were upstairs and the boys were downstairs back at the house. We took turns doing makeup on each other to complete the look. Our first look was done in the living room as well as some portraits, which made for some amazing memories. The bridesmaids wore navy dresses with yellow and ivory flower bouquets. Mike wore a gray suit with a yellow/blue bowtie and brown shoes. The groomsmen wore grey suits with yellow ties and brown shoes. The wedding was simple, with yellow and ivory flowers decorating the room. A bird cage was decorated with flowers to collect the cards, and in lieu of favors we donated to the American Diabetes Association—an organization that is very important to us—and decorated the announcement cards in navy and yellow ribbons. The ceremony and cocktail hour were outside, and the reception was held inside at Perona Farms. We loved the rustic feel of the venue, and the exterior landscaping and apple orchards. We just knew the pond and bridge, and rows of trees would make for beautiful pictures. Our cake was a lemon and strawberry naked cake. My dress was all lace with a sheer lace back and long lace train. While all the dresses I tried on were beautiful, this one was different, understated yet elegant, and somewhat unique. With a flower in my hair and my navy shoes, it was exactly the look I had imagined. Favorite moment: Our first dance—realizing that it was officially official with all of our friends and family around us. One detail you couldn’t live without? Our friends and families coming together and being a part of such a wonderful time in our lives. Did anything go wrong? With the exception of an accident on the local highway, which caused a slight delay in the ceremony start time, nothing went wrong. The day couldn’t have been more perfect! Advice for other brides: Stay calm and remember no matter what happens, the day is about you and your husband. Just relax and enjoy it! Honeymoon: We will be traveling around Italy for 14 days in September.
