“Hair and makeup started early at our hotel for the me and my bridesmaids, while the groomsmen got ready at Robert’s childhood home in East Hanover. The bridesmaid dresses were blush, mermaid style floor length gowns by Impression Design and my gown was a drop waist ball gown with crystals on the bodice made by Allure (style 9003).”
“Our ceremony took place at St. Lucy’s Church in Newark, followed by pictures in Branch Brook Park. After a quick pit stop to grab hot dogs at our favorite hot dog truck, we were off to our reception which was held in the Palazzo Room at The Venetian in Garfield. The room was set for 260 people, with traditional round tables and long banquet style tables bordering the dance floor, dressed with ivory linens, gold chavari chairs and blush and sequin overlays. Gold candelabras and low white hydrangeas lined the long tables with similar alternating centerpieces on the round tables. The head table was dressed with a blush sequin table cloth with high and low gold candles, white chairs and a white backdrop. The entire room glowed with amber up-lighting.”
“Our wedding cake was a five tier cake with a butter cream frosting and lemon and raspberry cream from Palermo’s Bakery. The favors were mini bottles of limoncello that we made and bottled at home, along with a donation to the local animal shelter. We had a live event artist that painted our first dance on canvas which she gave to us at the end of the night, along with a photo booth. We also hired “Joe Mozz” from Staten Island to make fresh mozzarella for our guests at cocktail hour!”
“A spectacular fire show introduced our very elaborate Viennese hour, which included a large array of after-dinner cordials, Italian ices, cotton candy and a Haagen Daz ice cream truck! We also had pastries, cakes, a waffle and ice cream station and several chocolate fountains. Entertainment was provided by SCE Group which kept the party going till 12:30 AM! After the reception, we headed back into the cocktail hour room for our after party, where sliders, grilled cheese sandwiches, mac and cheese, pizza, fries and ice cream sandwiches were served along with a full open bar till 3:00 AM.”
“The room was decorated and lit to have a late night club feel. Entertainment was provided by DJ Anthony DiLauri. On the way out, guests were given a slice of our wedding cake that was boxed with forks for them to take home. Large vans and buses were provided at the end of the evening to bring everyone back to the hotel where the party continued in the bridal suite till 6:00 AM!
Your favorite part:
“It’s hard to pick only one favorite part of the day–because the entire day was amazing. If I had to pick one part, it would be when we were introduced as husband and wife. Coming down that beautiful double-sided curved staircase and seeing all of our loved ones dancing, parting and cheering for us was the most amazing feeling.”
If you could change one thing about your wedding what would it be?
“Honestly–and I’m sure you get this answer a lot–nothing. We did everything we wanted to do and the wedding went off exactly as we planned. If we had to do it all again, we would do it exactly the same. No regrets, just amazing memories! So much planning went into this that we believe nothing was overlooked.”
Advice for other brides:
“There will be a lot of ups and downs while planning your wedding, so my advice for other brides would be to make sure you enjoy every moment of your engagement and the planning process. This is your and your fiance’s time to plan what is going to be the best day of your life. So do what you want to do, how you want to do and DON’T let anyone or anything try to ruin that. This is your moment and once it’s over, it’s over. Stay on schedule with the planning and stay organized. Sometimes it is overwhelming and feels like it will not get done, but in the end, everything works out.”
