A Wedding at Jasna Polana - New Jersey Bride

“We wanted our wedding to feel glamorous yet very personal. Janet Makrancy and her team truly made our vision come to life. Our space at Jasna Polana felt grand and inviting. We chose to have one long feast table for our entire bridal party instead of a sweetheart table for just the two of us. The feast table was to be the focal point of the room, and Janet definitely accomplished that using a mix of large candelabras,  small votives, crystals, and flowers.  A mix of high and low centerpieces were used on guest tables to complete the look of the room.  As an alternative to a basket of petals, Janet created a beautiful flower wand for our flower girl. I also wanted a dramatic cake table. Janet was able to achieve this look by putting a raised glass platform on the cake table and placing various flowers underneath the glass. Janet’s team truly does it all.; and it was great having them as a one-stop-shop for all of our decor.  Jim from Fennelli Lighting was also great; he even met with us two days before the wedding at our venue to show us different lighting concepts to complete the look of the room.”

“I went a very traditional route with my wedding dress. Ever since I was a little girl, I had always envisioned myself wearing a dress that made me feel like a princess (Yes, I watched a lot of Disney movies as a child!). I knew I wanted something classic and timeless, and it had to have some bling. I visited Exquisite Bride in Princeton and worked with Julia (one of their rockstar consultants) to find my dress. I ended up choosing a satin A-line Lazaro gown, with a lot of beading at the waist.  Julia made the process so easy and fun, and I’d highly recommend Exquisite Bride to any bride in search of their perfect dress.”

“To offset the glam, we incorporated a lot of personal touches throughout the space. We had wedding photos of our parents and grandparents framed and displayed throughout the foyer where our cocktail hour was held.  Confetti Grey Etsy Shop, also created cocktail napkins for us which incorporated fun facts about myself and Andrew that our guests didn’t know. My grandparents’ wedding rings were also placed on my bouquet. Andrew’s brother, Chris, created a custom card box for guests to put their cards in on the day of the wedding. Chris incorporated the monogram from our wedding invitations on the top of the box.  At the end of the night, we paid tribute to my Polish heritage and nickname, “Brookie” by having a pierogie and Brookie–a wonderful dessert combination of a brownie and a cookie station.”

“Our save-the-dates and wedding invitations were created by LoveLeigh Invitations; Cheyenne and Danielle were a pleasure to work with. For our save the dates, they created a fun scratch-off postcard that said, “Lucky In Love.” Guests revealed the wedding date by scratching off three circles much like a scratch-off lottery ticket. Andrew and I got engaged in Atlantic City, so the scratch off was a perfect way to acknowledge that. Our invites were simply stunning, and the design went above and beyond anything I could’ve ever imagined. Our invite was more traditional and formal, using cursive font, metallic paper and crystals.  I sent Cheynne a picture of the beading from my dress, and a similar pattern was incorporated on the top of the invitations and wedding day programs. LoveLeigh also created our programs, menus, table numbers, and wedding day signage.”

“The day-of getting ready process was also made fun and stress-free by Nicck Townsend, our wonderful makeup artist I booked via Mack Stylist and Jenna and Nicole from Nuvo Beauty Lounge. They took the time to listen to each individual bridesmaid as well as my mother and future mother in law regarding their specific styles for the day. Nicck was also a trooper and arrived at 6:00 AM to begin makeup so we were ready for pictures by noon. Jenna, Nicole and Nicck also did a great job of making sure we were kept on schedule. The girls’ looks lasted all day and well into the night, and each one of them looked amazing. And of course no wedding day getting-ready session would be complete without a few mimosas! Each bridesmaid had a personalized wine sippy-cup (gotta watch out for spills) with their name, role in the wedding, and wedding date. My Matron of Honor had these made for my bachelorette party, and they were great to use for the day of the wedding.”

“Our entertainment was provided by Lost in Paris. We had seen them perform a few times in Atlantic City and thought they’d be great for our wedding, and they certainly did not disappoint; the dance floor was going all night. They’re extremely fun and interactive, and they played a great variety of music. They even went above and beyond and learned our first dance song, “All of Me” by John Legend. They also had a DJ with them which was great for when the band took a break.”

“And finally, to capture all of the beautiful décor and amazing moments throughout the day, we hired Jeff Tisman as our photographer and McKenzie Miller as our videographer. Hiring Jeff was one of the best decisions we made throughout the planning process. His style and vision are unlike any photographer in the business. Jeff’s photos really do speak for themselves. McKenzie was also great to work with; She’s a true professional, and you can tell she loves what she does. Her work captured the emotion of our day beautifully. I often find myself watching our wedding trailer several times a week. “

Your favorite part:

“My favorite part was when we were announced as Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Golin coming into our reception. It was great to see how over a year’s worth of planning had come together, and also to be surrounded by our friends and family.”

Advice for other brides:

“If you’re on the fence about doing a first look, definitely do it! The first look was a great moment that put us at ease for the rest of the day. It also allowed us to get amazing photos of just the two of us before the ceremony so we weren’t rushed for photos during the gap between the ceremony and cocktail hour. Another piece of advice: hire a honeymoon planner. After planning a wedding, the last thing we wanted to do was coordinate a big trip. We worked with Katie at Ever After Honeymoons and she was fabulous. We were deciding whether we wanted to go to Greece or Italy, and with her expert planning, she was able to make both happen for us. Also, if we had any issues or questions throughout our honeymoon she was available 24/7 to assist us.”
