How did you meet?
Our story begins as all great love stories do, we both swiped right… on Tinder (my husband will deny this). Our first date was in Hoboken and it lasted over 5 hours and the rest is history.

How did you get engaged?
John and I planned to go to dinner & drinks at one of our favorite spots on a Saturday night with just my sister and her boyfriend. For the life of me, I could not figure out why he wanted to sit at the bar to eat dinner rather than at a table in the dining room, which had me very annoyed but not suspicious! We are friendly with the bartender and he loves to perform various magic tricks to wow the customers. They’re much more entertaining after a few drinks. We’ve seen them all, but that night he started doing one of his greatest hits. He turns the shaker upside down on the bar and asks you to tap it, and when he lifts it up there’s a piece of fruit, and he repeats this multiple times. He starts with a lime and works his way up in size to an orange. You have no idea where the fruit is coming from! Okay, so maybe it is cool even without a few drinks. Since I had seen the trick before, I was only half paying attention and nodding along in feigned amusement.

It came time for the grand finale, but instead of an orange, the bartender lifted the shaker and revealed a baseball. Now I was confused and paying attention. What happened next is a bit of a blur but John dropped to one knee and opened the baseball (which he had cut in half) to reveal a ring and asked me to marry him. I said yes of course and when I looked up, our parents, cousin, and John’s sister were standing there. They had walked into the restaurant as it was happening. After the proposal, I discovered that on the baseball he had written the words “My Best Pitch . . . Will You Marry Me?” We spent the rest of the night celebrating with our families and friends. It was a wonderful night.

Details of the day!
The overall theme of our day was dark romance. We decorated with black candelabras, black and gold tablecloths, and dark flowers and used gold, white and ivory accents to make everything pop. I switched into a black dress for the reception with long lace sleeves and a full skirt.

Why did you choose your venue?
We wanted a venue that only did one wedding at a time. We loved the chandeliers of the ballroom along with the white drapery across the ceiling which was perfect for the romantic vibe we wanted for our wedding.

What was on your menu?
We did a cocktail-style wedding rather than your typical sit-down dinner. We had all different stations from Pasta and Carving stations to Polish and Asian Stations. For dessert, we had a huge Viennese which had everything from cakes and pies to ice cream & milkshakes. Our wedding cake was Dulche de Leche and cookies and cream flavors.

All about your gown!
My first gown was a mermaid style. The top was satin and beaded with thin straps and the bottom was all tulle with a long tulle train. My reception dress was a black ballgown with long lace sleeves. My husband also mentioned he wished I would get a black wedding dress knowing full well that my mother would never allow it. While looking for dresses, for fun, I tried on the one black dress they had, and instantly everyone fell in love. He even mouthed to me on the alter jokingly, no black wedding dress? Little did he know I would be changing into one in a few hours.

What was your favorite moment?
It is so hard to pick just one moment. The whole day was incredible, from getting ready with my girls in the morning to the ceremony and saying our vows to dancing with our loved ones all night long.

One detail you couldn’t live without?
Not sure if this counts as a detail but the band was AMAZING and our wedding would not have been the same without them.

Did anything go wrong?
Does COVID causing us to postpone the wedding a full year count?! Original date 11-14-20, Actual date 11-12-21

Any advice for future brides?
I know everyone says this, but try your best to live in the moment and not stress! The day goes by so fast that it is not worth worrying about the small things.

Honeymoon Location
Costa Rica- We would recommend Costa Rica to anyone, it was truly an amazing trip!
