Real Weddings

Heather and John-Peter at Hamilton Farm Golf Club

Details of the day: I wanted the wedding to feel classic and romantic with details that would pop to guests. Shortly after we got engaged I was looking at my parents wedding album at my Grandparents 60th wedding anniversary and I loved my mother’s dress. We ended up finding it in the attic and I felt like the delicate lace really set the tone for the rest of the wedding. For my second dress I wanted something fun that I could dance in but still feel bridal, Hayley Paige dresses have the most amazing detail to them that anyone could wear. We got married at Church of Christ the King and I saw JP for the first time when I walked down the aisle, it was an amazing moment. We had a food truck in the church parking lot for guests after the ceremony because we didn’t want everyone getting too hungry in between the ceremony and the reception. For the cocktail hour out on the lawn we had high heel protectors and pashminas for guests. We had a violinists and harpist playing. Our escort cards were birds that the florist attached to branches. The linen for cocktail hour was a laser cut rose pattern and underneath the tables were lights, so as the sun set the rose pattern glowed. For the reception we had an amazing DJ who provided a caricature photo booth to match our save the date. I wanted the linen to be lace like with delicate detail. For the head table we did customized napkins with our monogram on them. There was lace on our wedding cake and we even ordered sugar doilies for the coffee service. My husband loves cigars so we had a cigar roller come during dessert. We gave emergency hangover kits as out favor to go with our “Brought together by accident” theme, as JP and I got together after I crashed my car and his auto body shop fixed it. The whole day felt romantic and classic and we really tried to accommodate our guests with small details they would enjoy. Your favorite part: It was the small moments, walking down the aisle, our first dance, dancing with my father, eating a piece of our wedding cake while dancing. I wanted to make sure that after all the planning I took in the moment so I could cherish the memories after it was over. If you could change one thing about your wedding what would it be? I didn’t put together a list for myself of group shots with friends that I would have liked. We got all family photos but there were friends we were to busy dancing with that we forgot to take a really posed photo with. Advice for other brides: Enjoy the day! Your guests feed off of your feelings and emotions and if you are enjoying the day they will as well, even if everything doesn’t go as planned.
