Carla and Jonathan’s Winter Wedding at Il Tulipano

Details of the Day: It was Sunday January 15th 2017. There was a light dusting of snow on the ground from the night before, the sun was shining, and it was 35 degrees, perfect weather for a Winter Wonderland themed wedding. I was the first one up and out of bed – of course I couldn’t sleep, I was too excited about marrying my best friend. But the excitement was also mixed with sadness as one special person couldn’t be there to see it all. My dad was diagnosed with Stage 3 throat cancer about 5 months before our big day.  He was in recovery mode the week of our wedding and couldn’t make it out of the hospital. This pain was something that no daughter could ever imagine and it still hurts me seven months after the fact. The only silver lining is that my father is currently in remission and is starting to build his strength up again. Maybe that’s why I needed the love, energy and support of all 12 bridesmaids. These girls are nearest and dearest friends who helped ease the pain of not having my dad walk me down the aisle. As 8AM hit, Dina the hair stylist & Uri the makeup artist shuffled in with their beauty team. We were officially in wedding mode. Hair was upstairs, makeup was downstairs and I was just in my glory listening to the sounds of laughter, Britney, JLo, Nicki, and of course Beyonce.  Suddenly it was noon the bouquets of red roses had arrived and I was putting on my dress. Mom was tying me up and tucking me in and the photographer was snapping away…This was it! After a heartfelt, spiritual Catholic Mass at Our Lady of The Lake Church in Verona; the bridal party piled into the party bus and ventured across the street to take photos in Verona Park. The bridesmaids kept warm in their white fur shrugs and of course their black velvet gowns. I was wrapped in a caramel colored fur stoll with my “something blue” engraved UGG Boots…and the groomsmen …well they were in pants & a suit jackets so they were just fine. The photographer caught the last bit of sunshine in the park before we all took off for the reception at Il Tulipano. The Venue: Jon and I asked ourselves what the most important part to any wedding is and we both agreed it’s the food. Il Tulipano’s food comes highly recommended, we were very pleased! After a lovely cocktail hour where Jon and I actually had the chance to sit down and eat, The DJ welcomed the bridal party into the ballroom with “It Takes Two” by Rob Base and then we came in “We found love” by Rihanna. The hand-made winter wonderland themed centerpieces (made by yours truly) were glistening in the light…not one centerpiece looked crooked or out of place…I was one proud bride. The Dancing ensued, the drinks were flowing, and the night just flew by. The most memorable moment was dancing with Jon and looking around the room and feeling the love. Towards the end of the night after a delicious desert hour in the Viannese Room, we held hands and thanked everyone for attending, shuttled to the hotel, and changed into sweats. It was the perfect wedding to my most perfect soulmate. The Gown: This mermaid styled Essence of Australia Gown was the perfect combination of sexy & elegant. The lace embroidery on the bodice was classic as it hugged every curve just right, the layered train gave it a real wintery glam feel and really looked gorgeous against the winter back drop of Verona Park. Favorite Moment: The first time we were called into the ballroom at iL Tulipano as Mr. & Mrs. Buglione…we did it! Another amazing moment was walking down my stairs and seeing all of my girls “Ooo & Ah” over the fabulousness of it all (just a little staged for the video/photo op)…but what Leo doesn’t love the spotlight? The third amazing moment was laughing with my brother before the church doors opened…I’m pretty sure he sang “Bad & Bougie” the entire time we walked down the aisle. And another amazing moment of it all was reaching out to hug Jon as my brother gave me away. First Dance Song: “If I Ain’t Got You”- Alicia Keys & Usher Advice For Other Brides:  Ladies, invest in your hair & makeup….don’t skimp out on how you will look, it’s a pretty serious day. Good Hair & Good Makeup is not cheap…Definitely get a wedding video, having a 3 minute highlight reel takes us back to the most important day of our lives
