Brynn and David at Sweetgrass Pavilion at Crystal Springs Resort

Posted on December 20, 2019 by Ariana Baio

Dave and I met through friends our senior year of high school. We dated a few years but we went our separate ways as I traveled and Dave focused on his career. Although we broke up, our paths met again and have been inseparable ever since.

We got engaged two days after Christmas in a cabin in the Catskills on a long weekend trip with our dog. Dave proposed under the stars on the the deck of the cabin.

We got married at the Sweetgrass Pavilion at Crystal Springs Resort in Vernon, NJ. I would describe my day as an enchanted garden feel. My colors were dusty pink and the guys wore a light blue modern suit. My flowers consisted of soft garden roses, calla lilies, soft blues, whites and pinks with pink succulents. Our favor was a donation to the Joey Bella Fun in honor of the groom’s late father. One of my favorite details was our signature drink which was named after our dog, the “Fizzy Freya” which featured a water painting of her. I also had a surprise for my husband at the end of our reception which was an appearance of the NJ Devil since he is a HUGE Devil’s fan.

We chose Crystal Springs because we LOVED the feel of the pavilion for the reception and the ceremony space was a beautiful garden. We were so happy with the bridal coordinator and how everything was in one spot which made it convenient for us and our guests.

Our menu included an arugula, strawberry and goat cheese salad to start, pear and fontina ravioli and a choice between filet mignon or chicken. Our cake was funfetti and red velvet.

My gown was a fitted sweetheart and strapless dress with a lace overlay. It was fitted at the top and flowy and fun at the bottom with lace edges and a train to die for. The bodice was adorned with white beading to give it something a bit extra. This dress was everything I dreamed of and it was the last one I tried on! As soon as I slipped it on, I knew it was the one. It really gave me a feeling of it being the dress of my dreams.

My favorite moment was walking down the aisle to see my groom. Although we had a first look, it did not take away from the moment I saw my husband at the end of the aisle.

Nothing major. The only thing that sticks out to me is that I was supposed to have a dance with my mom after dinner and the Dj forgot (it was a last minute add on) We ended up dancing later in the night but it wasn’t as special as I wanted it to be.

My best advice is to trust your vendors and enjoy the little moments, even the ones that don’t seem that important because the day flies by and it will all be a memory before you know it.
