How did you meet?
John and I first met out one night in Hoboken, 11/11/11 to be exact. I was out with one of my best girlfriends and it wasn’t long after we walked into the bar that John walked up to me and simply said “Hi, I’m John.” I like to say it was love at first sight. We talked briefly, exchanged numbers, and a few days later he called me – something so small that stood out in a time when we’re all texting and DMing! We talked for so many hours on our first date and I knew then that he was the person I was going to marry.

How did you get engaged?
The proposal was nothing short of perfect. John took me to Liberty House for dinner the night before my birthday. It was one of those summer nights that was breezy and calm and the restaurant had fire pits and a live band playing at sunset. We had amazing wine and delicious meals and when we went to take a photo against the city skyline, John leaned in for a kiss and when I opened my eyes he was down on one knee. It was the most surreal moment of my life and I can not wait to marry him.

Details of the day!
Timeless, romantic, classic. An abundance of white flowers with greenery. The classic feel of The Madison Hotel and the elements and neutral colors we chose feel very traditional yet modern and timeless. We wanted a really elegant, over-the-top celebration with our friends and family!

Why did you choose your venue?
The Conservatory hands down sold us on The Madison Hotel. When I first saw the room, it reminded me of the scene in the newer Great Gatsby movie where Gatsby sees Daisy for the first time in the room overfilled with plants and flowers. We love how classic The Madison Hotel is with so many interesting and historical elements throughout the hotel, it felt like something different and very us.

All about your gown!
Choosing my wedding dress was more difficult than I expected – I must have tried over 50 on, but knew mine was the one before it was even fully zipped. Fashion and beauty have always been a major part of my life so this was an important piece for me. I wanted something classic, but fashion-forward and that felt like “me.” I discovered overskirts in the early stages of my dress shopping and was hooked. Once I found my dress which combined soft couture, romantic elements, AND an overskirt – I was sold.

What was your favorite moment?
Our first look and seeing all of our friends and family on the dance floor!

Did anything go wrong?
The forecast changed a hundred times prior to May 8th. The weather was all over the place from downpours to moments of sunshine, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way. To the brides stressing over the weather – don’t, it will make for beautiful photos and you will be so over the moon on your wedding day it will not phase you.

First dance song?
The Flamingos – I Only Have Eyes For You

Any advice for future brides?
Plan one thing at a time to avoid overwhelming yourself, join Facebook groups to research reviews and recommendations, and of course in the world of COVID be flexible and open to change – not everything can be perfectly planned.

Honeymoon Location
Akumal, Mexico became our COVID backup plan, our original honeymoon plan is Italy and we hope to take that trip in 2022.
