Dan and I met at Brady’s At The Station, a bar in Ramsey, NJ. My friend Meghan and I were trying to figure out how to play darts when Dan and his friend Clay walked over asking to play. After a game of darts, the rest of the night was spent chatting and getting to know each other. Our first date was two weeks later and the rest was history.
A little over three years later, Dan took me to Harriman State Park, a spot we frequent and love, on a rainy Saturday morning to pop the question. We rounded out the perfect proposal with a planned brunch with Meghan and Clay at Brady’s for a darts rematch and a celebration with both families.
Our colors were black and gold. A common theme seen throughout our day were polka dots, our initials, and acrylic signage. The flowers had the fall tones of deep burgundy and purples offset with pinks and white. For our favors, we gave out M&Ms in small acrylic cubes with polka dot tape and our initials to match our save the date, invitations, programs and menus.
Maritime Parc was the third venue we saw and we knew immediately when we walked in that was it. The city has always been close to us personally and the vibe of Maritime Parc with the views of the city was perfect!
Our cocktail hour was filled with hors d’oeuvres and a variety of delicious stations. Our menu included a simple mixed baby greens salad to start, a choice of pan-seared branzino, a duo of beef (steak and short rib) or a vegetarian option as an entree and platters of macaroons & salted caramels for dessert. In addition to the dessert at the tables, more sweets were passed while guests danced! For our wedding cake, we chose funfetti with milk chocolate ganache filling.
My favorite moment was immediately following the ceremony, we hid in the vestibule in the back of the church while everyone exited. Since we didn’t have a first look, this was our first time alone and it was just so special. I also had Dan’s ring engraved as a surprise with a lyric close to us and I used that intimate moment to show him – our photographer came in at that point and captured it! A close second honestly, was having the party bus stop at Burger King right after the ceremony to get nuggets and fries for our bridal party!
I can’t decide! All of the little details really made our wedding perfect and special to us. Though the nearby wedding had fireworks that we reaped the benefits of, absolutely magical! (Thank you Nov 2. Liberty House wedding!)
Nothing! We had the most gorgeous day and everything ran so smoothly. It truly was the perfect day!
