5 Things to Know About Crystal Plaza

An Essex County gem that underwent a huge renovation in 2020.

Located in a residential area of Livingston, Crystal Plaza is full of glamour inside and throughout its grounds. The venue is focused on hosting one event at a time and their guest count sweet spot is between 175-225, although they can host up to 380 people. With many rooms and features, the polished venue took their offerings to the next level in 2020, when they did a major renovation during Covid-19. During a recent tour, we experienced the beauty of this venue, which was once a home in the 1890s. Read on to learn more.

1. Spacious and Glamorous Bridal and Groom Suites

As I walked into the upstairs bridal suite, I literally said, “why even bother going downstairs to your wedding?”—It’s that breathtaking. This suite, which Crystal Plaza calls their penthouse, is the ultimate bridal party hangout equipped with a separate salon room, a massage chair, kitchen space, couches and a beautiful mirror for the bride to admire herself in. The grand room used to be where indoor ceremonies were held. The groom suite downstairs, called the vault, is just as appealing with a pool table, TV, golf simulator, barber’s chair and couches. Of course, you don’t book a wedding venue based on the bridal and groom suites but having these well-appointed rooms is a definite perk.

2. Indoor and Outdoor Ceremony Options

It’s always a good idea to have both indoor and outdoor ceremony options ready to go. But at Crystal Plaza, it would be hard to choose which space you want to go with for your nuptials. The indoor ceremony space, with its glass ceiling and balcony, offers a wide open space with tons of natural light and a clean slate for decorating. The indoor ceremony space is also used for after parties. The gardens with a stone walkway, bright florals, lamp posts and a gazebo is enchanting and will totally fulfill your garden vibe ceremony dreams.

3. Kosher Menu Available

Crystal Plaza can prepare a Kosher menu for your wedding whether you book their venue space or choose to have your celebration off site. Guests can enjoy cocktail hour in an area called the living room with a large bar and an additional patio area that has a ceiling covered in greenery and flowers (we love the greenhouse vibes!). Additionally, for Indian weddings, outside caterers are allowed.

4. So Many Fun Photo Ops

Take some moody portraits in front of the giant vault outside of the groom suite. Take a romantic traipse through the grounds and you’ll find your perfect first look spot—under these outdoor chandeliers that glow at night. In the patio area off of the cocktail hour space, take fun whimsical garden-like photos. From the indoor ceremony room, open the door to a balcony and get some stunning indoor/outdoor shots. Or, pop into the ballroom before your reception and practice your first dance in the center of the round dancefloor. Want more inspo? 5. Even The Bathrooms Are Pretty

It sounds a little silly to focus on what the bathrooms look like at your wedding venue, but all of your guests will experience the powder room. And when there’s a full-length mirror with a flower arch like there is in the ladies room at Crystal Plaza, you can bet your guests will take some bathroom selfies.
