Their Story

Kate and Nat wed at Quarry Hill Farm in Pennsylvania on September 7, 2024.

Kate and Nat met in sunny south Florida at an acrobatics event. “This was a newer hobby of mine,” says Kate, “but Nat’s first time attending. We were paired together when we showed up (both a little late!) and instantly hit it off.”

“As the event wrapped up, I knew I wanted to see him again so I mentioned that I offered private lessons (this was previously untrue) if he wanted one for free. He took me up on the offer and one, four-hour lesson later (that was mostly us talking and him sharing his horrible dad jokes), we were inseparable.”

The Proposal

Whenever they go to a new state or scenic place, they like to commemorate the visit with a picture of their favorite acrobatics pose.

While on a hike in beautiful Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in northern Michigan, Nat suggested that they film the pose at a few spots to make sure they got the best shot since there wasn’t anyone around to take the pictures for them.

“After filming the pose a few times, he sneakily left the camera running and got down on one knee,” says Kate.

Choosing the Venue

“The most important thing to us was keeping the party going while eliminating the need for guests to change locations or find a ride,” says Kate.

“Quarry Hill Farm in Clifford, PA was a stunning farm venue that had multiple onsite Airbnbs which let our guests spend the whole weekend together swimming in the lake and playing games (and staying up late together for the after party!)”

Details of the Day

They had many friends and family help with their DIY peacock colors theme.

Kate’s mom spent a year thrifting vintage pieces for decor, her sister’s best friend did the bouquets, her aunt grew her garden full of flowers for the centerpieces, and several friends baked multiple desserts (and a cake!) for the dessert table.

Favorite Moment

Their combined favorite moment was Kate’s surprise for Nat.

“He loves peacocks and I spent months figuring out how I could rent peacocks for the wedding,” says Kate. “By some stroke of luck I found a family with hand raised peacocks that lived only 30 minutes from the venue. They snuck them onto the site during our pre ceremony photos and we got the moment on camera when we did a second first look. Nat turned around and saw them and was speechless!”

Detail They Couldn’t Live Without

“There were so many moving parts during the day but we didn’t have to worry at all and got to fully enjoy the day because Brittany (day-of-coordinator) and Jason Rhee (photographer) did so much behind the scenes to keep everything moving smoothly,” says Kate.

Attire

Kate’s dress was second hand Grace Loves Lace. “Extremely comfortable and stretchy,” she says. “I could have napped in that dress!”

The bridal party were encouraged to thrift their dresses or wear something they already owned that fit the color palette. The groom’s suit was custom made by a local (in Baltimore) tailor (Christopher Schafer Clothier) and the groom’s party wore bowties from Beau Ties of Vermont.

Advice For Other Couples

“Our best advice would be to enjoy the engagement period for a bit before entering the wedding planning frenzy,” says Kate. “You’re only engaged once and it’s a wonderful, happy, exciting time. Wedding planning can be stressful and it’s nice to live in the moment for a bit before details of the big day start rushing in.”

Honeymoon

The newlyweds are going to Japan for their honeymoon in spring 2026.
