Robin and Austin tied the knot at Clarks Landing Yacht Club on May 23, 2024.

Their Story

They first connected on the Bumble dating app early in 2017.

“After our first date, which was a cold walk on the beach and bay in Lavallette, the chemistry was clear,” says Robin. “We had the same sense of humor, believed in the same causes, shared music taste and felt comfortable together.”

Many dates later, they finally became boyfriend and girlfriend. Three years later, they moved in together two weeks before Covid-19 lockdowns began. During that time, they adopted two cats and “focused on building our life together,” says Robin.

In 2023, they got engaged on the bay front in Lavallette.

A year later, they got married at Clarks Landing Yacht Club in Point Pleasant right in the heart of the Shore area where it all began.

The Proposal

Robin and Austin got engaged in Lavallette on March 18, 2023. The date holds extra meaning because it is Robin’s late grandmother’s birthdate.

Austin came home and asked if Robin wanted to take a ride to the beach. “A ride to the beach? It’s March 18th! It’s cold!” she thought. But she began putting pieces together and had a gut feeling the proposal was coming, so she went along with it.

The car ride down to Lavallette was an awkward hour and a half of silence because Austin’s nerves were so intense and Robin did not to spoil the moment.

Once they arrived, they walked over the bay front where Austin got down on one knee. He told Robin he couldn’t imagine his life with anyone else by his side and promised to care for her for life.

She said “yes” and the couple got back into the warm car and made the exciting phone calls to friends and family sharing the news.

Turns out, that morning when Austin was out of the house unexpectedly, he was at Robin’s dad’s house asking for his daughter’s hand in marriage. How sweet!

Details of the Day

“Our wedding day vibe was springtime coastal elegance,” says Robin. “We wanted to showcase our love of the Shore with an emphasis on highlighting springtime pastels. Our color scheme was light blue, peach and white.”

Choosing the Venue

“We chose Clarks Landing Yacht Club because of its reputation for excellent service, outstanding food and beautiful water views,” says Robin.

“We fell in love with the newly renovated spaces including the ceremony room with all it’s windows looking out onto the water. It was the perfect setting for our beachy, warm weather wedding!”

“We also really enjoyed meeting the staff on our first tour and felt confident in their skills and service.”

Favorite Moment

“The best moment of our wedding was coming back to the bridal suite after our ceremony as a newlywed couple and staring at each other smiling and giggling,” says the bride.

“It was such a humbling moment of ‘wow, we really did it!.’ We also had endless plates of Clarks Landing appetizers and drinks in front of us, which added to the joy!”

Detail They Couldn’t Live Without

“Light blue tablecloths were the one detail I couldn’t live without,” says Robin. “I did not want typical white linens, I needed light blue linens to elevate the ballroom at Clarks Landing and really put the coastal vibe into focus. It looked gorgeous!

Advice for Other Couples

“Make your wedding YOURS! Traditions and trends provide great ideas to guide your wedding planning process, but ultimately your wedding should reflect you as a couple and not anyone else,” says Robin.

Amanda Bonneau Photography

“If you don’t love a certain tradition or trend, don’t do it! Having this mindset will help make your planning a lot smoother. You’ll thank yourself once your wedding has come and gone for being your authentic self.”

Honeymoon

The newlyweds went to Sandals Grande Antigua in the Caribbean for one week.

“We loved it. It’s an all-inclusive adults-only resort in St. Johns, Antigua, and offers a gorgeous landscape and the bluest water we’ve ever seen! We truly felt like newlyweds and were treated so well on our honeymoon.”
