Tanya and Nick at Crystal Ballroom

Posted on February 03, 2020 by Ariana Baio

We first crossed paths in the summer of 2005 when we were both attending a prom with our significant others. The following summer we ran into each other and remained friends. It was not until the winter of 2009 where we finally started dating. I still remember the night Nick asked me to be his girlfriend. He was so nervous his hands were shaking. I think he was more nervous then than when he finally proposed in May of 2018!

It was my second mother’s day and we planned to celebrate our nephew’s first communion that day. We attended the mass at our local parish with our family and once mass was over the family was taking family photo’s on the alter. Nick’s sister, Abbey, asked if we would take a photo with her son Sidney who had just made his first communion. That’s when Nick got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I was in total shock, and I had been dreaming of this day since I knew Nick was the one, and did not have any idea it would happen this day as I was distracted with the celebrations at hand. The second best day of my life!

I wanted our color scheme to be deep, rich and romantic so we decided on navy, burgundy, with hints of blush and ivory. Décor for the venue I wanted to be a bit more modern and clean with touches of gold. All of the reception décor was created and provided by @Dbeardendesigns on Etsy. Everything was acrylic down to our dreamy sweetheart table and a dream come true! We said our vows in the same church where Nick proposed and where we baptized our daughter. We kept the church simple with some festive mums on the alter completed with a romantic violinist to compliment the organist.

We chose Crystal Ballroom due to the gorgeous chandeliers. I took one step into the foyer and could have died and gone to heaven. Once stepping into the ballroom I just knew we had to have our reception there.

I exchanged my first choice with a high neck and horsehair tulle ballgown style dress. I was too excited when I got engaged and had dress regret. As time went by, I kept my eye on this beautiful trumpet style form fitting gown with heavenly laced sleeves. I pulled the trigger and went back to David’s Bridal in Freehold where they let me try the dress on and just knew this was the dress I was walking down the aisle in. They were so kind and accommodating they let me do an even exchange! I don’t regret the decision for a single second.

My favorite moment of the day was saying our vows. It was almost as if there was no one else in the church with us. I couldn’t take my eyes off of my new husband.

Believe it or not, nothing went wrong! Everything was effortless and a true dream come true.

The piece of advice that was given to me, and I lived by, during the day of take a step back, breathe and take these final moments in.

We worked with Travelsmith’s of Point Pleasant and went to Secrets St. James, Montego Bay, Jamaica. We 100% recommend going!
