When Nick and Jessica were selecting her engagement ring, they opted for an acrostic ring. “Each side is a diamond, then the four jewels in the middle are feldspar, iolite, citrine and opal—acrostically spelling my new last name, Fico,” explains Jessica. “We got lucky that the colors look so nice together too—a stormy blue, a sharp purple, a moody orange and a reflective neutral.”

“I love the idea that jewelry tells a story,” she says. “When Nick and I were discussing the rings I liked, we tried on some classic diamond styles and some unique ones that incorporated colored jewels or pearls. But the thought of acrostic jewelry kept coming back to me.”

“As someone with a long German maiden name who swapped it for a cute little Italian one, this new name that my husband would gift me with felt like it needed a physical token,” says Jessica, who wed Nick at Maritime Parc in Jersey City. They considered other options on Erica Weiner’s website to see if they wanted to pick any other words, “but we always came back to our to-be-shared last name,” says Jessica.
