“During college, I worked part-time at Starbucks as a barista. In January of 2013, two guys walked up to the register to take their order. One of the guys, (my future fiancé), caught my eye. The two ladies I was working with caught on to my nervous jitters and red, flushed face and as the guys walked to the end of the bar to pick up their drinks, I was immediately pulled to the side. “Go for it!” “What do you have to lose?” As the two went to sit at a table in the café, I frantically thought of a beverage I could give to the one with my number on it. With butterflies in my stomach, I quickly thought of hot chocolate! Who doesn’t like hot chocolate on a cold night in January?! That’s the drink I made that brewed this relationship: a grande hot chocolate with whipped cream (and a number on the side).   New Jersey Bride Courtney Nick Starbucks Lovers Proposal I walked over and handed the guy the cup and awkwardly said something along the lines of “I made this for you”. After spending some time in the café and after me hiding behind the pastry case, the two finally gathered their things and left. I eventually revealed my name, but Starbucks girl was an ongoing joke between the two of us. Over text messaging and one of our first dates (which happened to be at Starbucks), we immediately clicked.   New Jersey Bride Courtney Nick Starbucks Lovers Proposal After 3 years of dating, I knew that Nick was someone I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. After 3 years, he became a huge part of my family and became the son my parents never had. And just when you thought things couldn’t get “corny-er”, in March of 2016, Nick proposed to me.   New Jersey Bride Courtney Nick Starbucks Lovers Proposal How did he do it? We went to Starbucks. I noticed Nick was acting off when he told me he didn’t want anything to drink. No black tea lemonade or chai tea latte? Strange. As I approached the end of the bar to pick up my drink, he stayed behind and ordered something on his own. I was immediately annoyed at why we didn’t order together and why he was acting off.   New Jersey Bride Courtney Nick Starbucks Lovers Proposal After walking a few blocks down to Riverside Park, Nick got down on his knee with his grande hot chocolate. Turns out he called ahead and arranged all of this…He had the cup double cupped so he was able to hide the “Will You Marry Me?” that was written on the outside. And thankfully, he had my sister hide in the bushes to capture this all on film.”
