How did you meet?

It all started back in 2012 while I was a Sophomore in high school and Justin was a Junior. We went to different high schools and had no idea who each other were initially. Justin and I shared some mutual friends that we had no idea about until he stumbled across my Twitter profile. It started as a simple follow that soon turned into him gaining the confidence to reach out to me in a silly way. Since he responded to my one tweet in a cocky/funny manner, I decided to message him and ask if I knew him? With much talking, I soon realized that was his gateway to spark a conversation with me. This then blossomed into countless hours of texting and finally meeting in person at my house. I still remember how nervous we were to meet but it all felt natural and like we’ve known each other for years. We spent that afternoon walking around town, in the rain, being silly and getting to know one another 🙂 Within the next three months, we started this crazy adventure on December 24th, 2012!

How did he ask?

The beach has always been a special place for us from day one. Our first trip together in high school was to the beach (even though we told my mom that his mom was going too, oops sorry Ma), we’ve been to Florida, Punta Cana, and a bunch of Jersey beaches, but the Outer Banks became one of our favorites. We took our first trip to the Outer Banks in Summer 2017 where we loved watching the sunrise, spending all day on the beach, going crabbing at night & checking out the cute little shops around town. Justin suggested we plan a trip for Summer 2018 with some of our friends and family. Little did I know, he began to plan the proposal!

On August 20th, 2018, Justin woke me up at 6 am to go see the sunrise as it is one of our favorite traditions. My sister Jocelyn and one of my best friends, Elise, wanted to tag along as they have never watched the sunrise in the Outer Banks before. Thinking nothing of it, Elise brought her camera with as she is a photographer and wanted to get some sunrise shots. We took a few pictures to capture the sunrise and continued walking down the beach. Justin asked me to take a “leading picture,” as we do this on every one of our adventures to remember where we’ve been and what we saw. As I turned around to lead him and gave him my hand, I felt Justin get down on a knee. I spun around and saw him teary-eyed, nervous and box in hand! Instantly I began sobbing and made him cry too! It took us a few minutes to gather ourselves so he could pop the question. Without hesitation, I, of course, said yes! It was so sweet to tie one of our traditions into the proposal and totally caught me by surprise! Looking back at pictures, they totally remind me of the Nicholas Sparks movies which happen to be my favorite
