How did you meet?

We actually met on a dating website! We talked back and forth a bit, and then met at Olive Garden. We ended up extended our date for several hours, and were inseparable after that.

In front of Hogwarts Castle at Islands of Adventure in Universal

How did he ask? 

Zach and I had been dating for almost two years, and in those 2 years we had been through a lot. I have a pretty extensive medical history (double lung transplant, cancer, etc) and it had been a pretty rough year. Zach and I decided to take a much needed vacation and went to Universal. Florida is so perfect!

We were having the best time – we even had corny watching shirts – it was perfect! I had wanted to take more pictures in front of one of my favorite spots; the Hogwarts castle. We were right near that are when Zach said he didn’t feel good. I immediately jump into nurse mode and found a shaded area for him to sit. He said he thought he just needed something to drink since it was so hot and he was going to go get a butter beer.

I stayed back to hold our spot in the shade but he texted me saying the line was long and asked if I could come wait with him. I grabbed our stuff and made my way for the butter beer wagon which happened to be just on the other side of the bridge to Hogwarts castle. As I approached the bridge, I saw that the line wasn’t long, and Zach wasn’t even at the truck. “I feel better. Let’s take more pictures in front of Hogwarts since we are right here anyway.” Zach said as he walked over to me.

I was happy to do so and a few pictures in Zach got really serious. “Emily….” I turned to see why he was so seriously saying my name and found him on one knee. I couldn’t believe this was happening. I actually said “wait, wait! Is this real life?” It was. The love of my life asked me to marry him that day, and I’ve never been happier to yes to anything in my life.
