If you’re looking for a rockin’ cake for your wedding, we’ve found just the place. Confections of a Rock Star in Asbury Park is a bakery that incorporates your favorite tunes into its menu. Choose from the Brown-Eyed Girl brownie, Don’t Be Cruel cupcake and Tunnel of Love cannoli. “There’s no bakery like it,” says owner Kimmee Masi, a rock drummer who’s been baking since the age of 9. “We make great-tasting cakes with the best ingredients, but offer a one-of-a-kind experience, whether it’s autographing our wall of fame to enjoying the music memorabilia on the walls.”
She’s also appeared on the Food Network’s 3 Days to Open with Bobby Flay and her sweets have been served at Mob Wives and Jersey Shore events.
So what is Masi seeing in the world of wedding desserts? “Things have changed over the past five years,” she says, “and while there are still brides that choose the traditional route of a cake, we also do a lot of cupcake towers as well as French macaroons and pastries. We have created some topsy-turvy cakes with interesting themes such as candy, Hello Kitty, Batman and A Nightmare Before Christmas.” And after sampling a few of her sweets, we can say with authority that Masi’s cakes do indeed rock.
