As the flurry of engagement soirees, showers, bachelorette parties and the big event itself draws near, many brides wonder how they can look their best when all eyes (and cameras) are focused on them. Fortunately, when the pressure is on, you can run to the local bar. Not for a cocktail, but for a little coiffure magic! A fun assortment of braid bars, blowout bars and brow bars are popping up to offer brides, maids and moms fast, convenient services. If you’re looking to weave an unexpected surprise into your wedding hairstyle, consider the trendy back-in-fashion braid like those seen on the red carpets. The newest twist is that you can find a braid bar located inside a salon. “We’ve been swamped with braid requests this year,” says Lewis DeCicco, owner, stylist and creative director of House of DeCicco Salon in Ridgewood. Once DeCicco added $25 braids to his menu of services, brides began trying and liking French braids as well as other less-common styles: waterfall, cord, herringbone and fishtail. House of DeCicco also specializes in haircutting, styling and coloring services. Another heaven-sent convenience for girls on the go is the blowout bar. The Blo Lounge in Livingston opened in late 2012 with a purple-themed salon that pampers women with a shampoo, blowout, flat ironing or curling, a fruit smoothie and fresh-baked goody (like purple-chocolate-dipped Oreos) for a flat fee of $35. Partner Debbi Fine says the salon offers a “Who Doesn’t Like Money to Blo?” gift card, a nice little extravagance for any busy bride. For those addicted to weekly blowouts, the salon sells discounted blowout bundles. Open seven days a week, Blo Lounge also provides up-dos, down-dos, braiding and eyebrow shaping for individuals and bachelorette and bridal parties. Eyebrow bars are another hot trend among girls who always want to look their best. Arch Brow Bar in Shrewsbury provides eyebrow styling by certified “browistas.” An initial eyebrow-styling package includes facial analysis, brow trimming, waxing if applicable and tweezing for $33 to $50, depending on the browista’s experience level. Brow tints, makeup, facial waxing and body waxing for men and women are also available. The beauty of these bars is that they offer stylists who are experts in their specialties, work especially fast and turn out picture-perfect results—making it easy for every bride to stay looking her best at all times.
