“Steve and I met in high school. Were always great friends and one of the things I have always liked about him was that he was always a nice guy and would go out of his way for anyone. When I transferred home from college we started hanging out just the two of us. Shortly after, many of my friends and family began telling me Steve had a crush on me. I didn’t believe them but one night Steve asked me to be more than friends. I turned him down since I did not want to ruin such a great friendship. After that, we still hung out all the time but I could not shake the feeling that there may be something more between us. I think I knew deep down he was the one for me and one night I told him to ask me again. Luckily, he did and we officially started dating! We were dating for about five and a half years when Steve proposed on a trip to the Finger Lakes. On our last night there he suggested we have a glass of wine outside by the lake before heading to dinner. When we got outside he led me to the grassy area in front of the dock. We were looking at the lake when he took my hand and pulled me to face him. He looked me in the eyes and said the sweetest things. After that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I, of course, said yes!   To make it even more unforgettable and special Steve surprised me and hired Danielle Gerritsen from Gerritsen Photography to photograph the whole thing! She did a wonderful job at capturing such a special moment in our lives!
