For Veronica Wolf and Paul Kostoulakos, it’s hard to remember a time when they weren’t together. They met in the same seventh-grade class in Toms River and even went to their senior prom together, just as friends. After high school their friendship blossomed and they started dating in 1994. Even though they attended different colleges and medical schools, they stayed a couple and got engaged in 2012. He, a neurologist in Neptune and Brick, and she, a podiatrist in Holmdel, married one year later at Mallard Island Yacht Club in Manahawkin on April 27, 2013. Both were 37. “Our outdoor wedding was special because our planner, Melissa Loiacono from Jenny Orsini Events, helped us realize our vision by adding so many personal touches,” says Veronica. “Even our yellow lab, Phineas, joined us in the photographs. All 160 guests felt as comfortable as if they were at our home for a dinner party, and that’s just what we envisioned for the biggest party of our lives.” “Veronica and Paul wanted their guests to be taken care of in every respect,” says Loiacono, “so we designed a wedding that was opulent and romantic, yet cozy, with modern touches like mirrored chargers, and pops of turquoise for a wow factor.” Many of the vendors hailed locally from Ocean County. As a nod to Paul’s Greek and Italian heritage, an abundant feast was served. Entrées included stuffed chicken, vegetarian eggplant and lobster with filet. Since Veronica loves seven-layer Italian cookies, the wedding cake followed suit with layers of rainbow yumminess. The dessert buffet also included pastries from Carlo’s City Hall Bake Shop. As a podiatrist, it was important to Veronica to wear stunning shoes that were actually comfortable, so Milk and Honey designed her party pumps with a two-inch heel and special padded insole. “They’re very affordable, so you can order whatever your heart desires,” she says. “I chose a blue sparkle shoe—my ‘something blue,’ and danced all night. My feet survived because of those shoes!” After a luxurious 10-day honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple is at home in Toms River.
