Their story: Megan Wollover, a model who grew up in Hamilton, and Tracy Morgan, an actor and comedian best known for his roles on 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live, were married this past summer. Tracy, a born-and-bred New Yorker who jokes that “all the best New Yorkers live in New Jersey,” was set up on a blind date with Megan by a mutual friend in 2011. “I didn’t know my date was with Tracy Morgan,” recalls Megan. “We only spent two or three hours together but he was confident and charming and caught my interest enough to have a second date.” The two became inseparable and several months later, while in San Francisco, one of Megan’s favorite cities, Tracy surprised her with a proposal. “He asked me to go with him to a jewelry store so he could have some of his jewelry cleaned,” says Megan. “He went ahead of me and when I got inside, he was down on one knee.”
Details of the day: For their August 23, 2015, wedding, Megan and Tracy chose the Ashford Estate in Allentown for its timeless, elegant aesthetic. With a color palette of white and ivory with touches of blush and gold, the feeling was “light and airy” and “opulent with hints of tradition as well as modern touches,” says their wedding planner, Jenny Orsini of Jenny Orsini Events. An abundance of lush flowers, including roses, orchids and hygrangea, as well as sumptuous fabrics and custom crystal candelabras contributed to the romantic atmosphere.
The ceremony: The couple exchanged vows in front of a 12-foot custom floral wall with Tracy’s son, Tracy Jr., 23, serving as best man. The couple’s daughter, Maven, 2, was the flower girl and carried a sweet sign that read, “Daddy, here comes Mommy.”
The menu: The newlyweds and their guests dined on mesclun greens with local berries in a vanilla-bean vinaigrette and a choice of entrées including filet mignon with poached shrimp, pan-seared Chilean sea bass and pork rib eye accompanied by smoked gouda potato soufflé and roasted asparagus. Dessert featured chocolate lava cake, crème brulée, bananas foster, bread pudding bites with caramel sauce and cookies and milk shooters.
Favorite moments: “The reveal when I saw Tracy for the first time,” says Megan. “I’ll never forget how he looked standing there waiting to turn around to see me—and then his face when he did!” Tracy’s favorite: “I remember breaking down in tears, she looked that beautiful,” he recalls. “Flashbacks came into my head from the first time I met Megan, coming out of the subway at Madison Square Garden.” Another favorite moment of his was “dancing with my wife for our first dance as a married couple.”
A sweet ending: Megan surprised Tracy with a groom’s cake designed to look like a diamond Rolex. As the newlyweds cut their towering, eight-tiered ivory-and blush-hued wedding cake with more than 1,500 handmade sugar flowers and an edible gold “M,” they were surrounded by 150 guests singing along as DJ Jay Dabhi played, “Solid [As A Rock].” “With everything we went through with Tracy’s accident and recovery, it was really meaningful” says Megan. “We really are solid as a rock.”
