How did you meet?
Greg and I met at Rowan University before the beginning of the Fall ’09 semester in the Phi Kappa Psi basement. I saw Greg the moment I walked in and decided to make the first move. The first words we ever exchanged was “You must be Joe’s brother, you look just like him” with the response “aw, don’t tell me that!” From that moment on we were inseparable.

How did you get engaged?
Several years before the engagement, I was visiting Longwood Gardens with my family and mentioned to Greg how beautiful it would be to get engaged there. Flash forward five years, I thought he had forgotten what I had told him many years before. My mother had mentioned a week before that she wanted to see Christmas lights, so I had told her if she wanted to see lights we should go to Longwood Gardens! Not knowing she was working with Greg and scheming. So we planned a trip to Longwood for the following weekend.

My mom wanted us to get dressed really nice so that we could take a nice family photo. I gave her a hard time because I didn’t want to wear a dress in the cold December weather! With much convincing from my sisters I finally gave in and got dressed up. When we arrived at the gardens I could tell that my family was acting weird, but I didn’t question it too much.

Eventually my family and Greg led me to that exact spot I had mentioned so long ago! He hired a professional photographer and had placed the ring in a mason jar that was engraved with “Will you marry me?”. He got down on one knee and of course I said yes- after sobbing uncontrollably.

Details of the day!
We got married on December 9th, 2017 at the Windsor Ballroom in East Windsor, New Jersey. Our color scheme was wine, blush, and gold. The bridesmaids wore a wine colored dress and gold shoes, while the groomsmen wore dark charcoal tuxes with wine accents. Although it was winter I wanted to try to have a garden feel during our wedding. I tried being a budget conscious bride and was able to make most of my decorations. I had used float frames and pressed flowers that Greg had given me for my birthday and flowers that were used at my bridal shower. We made our own wedding favors using honey sticks and a candy stick that really tied into our color scheme and theme.

The day of our wedding was the first snowfall of the season. When picking the date for our wedding, I knew it was going to be cold but I had no idea how cold it was going to be! I was apprehensive at first with all the snow, but I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. We did our first look at a local park and it had trees and a beautiful open field covered in fresh snow. The groom and the groomsmen look really handsome in their scarves and I and my bridesmaids were ready with snow boots! While Greg and I took photos our wedding party decided to have some fun and have a snowball fight!

We decided to include pieces of my culture into our wedding by having a Tea Ceremony during dinner and changing my dress three times (red signifies good luck in the Chinese culture). I had change into a traditional Chinese dress and Greg changed to a red tie. This a beautiful way to honor my family and my new family. We would offer tea in exchange for tokens of good luck.It was a whirlwind of a day, but it was the most beautiful and amazing day of our lives.

Why did you choose your venue?
We chose the Windsor Ballroom because of the amount of food the guests got to eat and the very large dance floor! We loved the cocktail space and how it was connected to a hotel.

What was on your menu?
Dinner was a choice of filet minion and ginger-infused salmon.Our cake flavors were white cake with raspberry mousse in the top and bottle layer and red velvet with cannoli filling in the middle layer.

All about your gown!
I had found my gown at the Bridal Suite Boutique. My dress had just the right amount of everything I was looking for: bling, lace, and poof! I knew it was the one when my mother started to cry (even though she’ll deny crying!).

What was your favorite moment?
My favorite moment was during our first look. Everything was absolutely beautiful and this was the day that we have been waiting for for 8 years! The moment I saw Greg it all became so real and we shared that moment together.

One detail you couldn’t live without?
Although I had no control over it, the snow! It made me feel that my day was unique and it elevated everything during our wedding.

Any advice for future brides?
Whenever you get the chance, take a moment to breathe it all in. The day goes so fast so you really need to take a few moments and stop moving just take it all in.
