Their Story

The Proposal

Daniel’s proposal story began with a surprise that wasn’t his. His mom had secretly planned him a birthday party just as he began planning to ask Destyne to marry him. When bad weather forced the party to be rescheduled, his grandfather accidentally let the secret slip. Daniel took it as a sign — this was the perfect cover for an even bigger surprise.

Meanwhile, Destyne had started noticing the hushed talks with parents and growing secrecy, making a true surprise nearly impossible. His birthday became the perfect setting. Surrounded by family and friends, everyone listened closely as Daniel gave his thank-you speech. Then he turned to Destyne, thanked her for changing his life, and asked if she’d like to do it forever.

Choosing the Venue

Daniel, Destyne, her mom and maid of honor sister went to tour their very first venue—The Crystal Ballroom. And yes, they know how crazy it sounds to choose the first one… but it had everything. The elegance, the drama, the wow factor—all while staying within budget.

“Our theme was neutral royal elegance, using nudes, white and gold,” says Destyne. “Crystal Ballroom provided beautiful menus, and we ordered custom chocolate with our names on it as favors.”

Favorite Moment

Their favorite moment was when the DJ played “When I See U” by Fantasia. “Seeing everyone in the room singing their heart outs and celebrating our union was truly something to remember and impossible to forget,” she says.

“I wore a beautiful off the shoulder ballgown and Daniel wore a gold suit jacket with beaded details.”

Advice For Other Couples

“Our biggest advice: trust your gut,” says Destyne. “Many people tried to steer us away from choosing our very first venue, but we learned that for a day this meaningful, the only opinions that truly matter are yours and your partner’s.”

“At the end of the day, quiet the noise and ask yourselves, ‘If we could do this exactly how we want, what would it look like?’ Then work together to make that vision real. Because after the wedding comes the marriage—and that’s what this is all about. Honeymoon

The newlyweds were gifted a trip from Daniel’s mother and brother. They went to Antigua and visited two resorts in seven days.
