For their Windsor Ballroom wedding, Sean and Stephanie loved the huge dance floor and convenience of the hotel. “Our guests could stay and celebrate with us for the entire weekend without having to get into their car once,” says the bride.

The Proposal

Sean wanted to propose with the New York City skyline in the background. “He found Waterside Restaurant and Catering and we had the most delicious meal,” says Stephanie. “Once the dinner was completed, my husband wanted to walk along the water towards the Hoboken pier. I was originally hesitant since it was lightly snowing and I was only in a dress and heels. As we were walking, he began sharing how happy this relationship has made him thus far, and once we made it to the end of the pier, he asked me to turn and face the skyline so he could take a photo, which is unlike him since he never takes photos! At this point, I then realized that this may be the moment he’s proposing, which immediately caused me to burst into happy tears. After what felt like a century, he then asked me to turn around which is when I saw him on one knee! He continued to express his love for me and asked me to marry him. I immediately said yes and we celebrated in the snow and rain in front of all the NYC lights! Ever since then, we go to the Waterside Restaurant and Catering every year for our engagement anniversary.”

Their Windsor Ballroom Wedding

For their December 2, 2023, “we focused on incorporating a more wintery theme, nothing holiday related but definitely cooler tones,” says Stephanie. “The colors that were commonly seen throughout our wedding were emerald green, baby pink and white. Our flowers were artificial due to my husband’s severe allergies, but they followed the same color pattern. Our favors consisted of homemade candles with a variety of scents as well as after dinner mints labelled ‘Mint to Be.'”

Why Windsor Ballroom?

“Other than the reception area exceeding our expectations in regards to capacity and visual aesthetics,” says Stephanie, “the Windsor Ballroom is connected to a hotel which was extremely convenient for our guests, especially those who had to fly from other areas of the country. Our guests could stay and celebrate with us for the entire weekend without having to get into their car once! Additionally, the staff we worked with were absolutely superb and very professional, while staying friendly throughout the entire process! The venue was beautiful and the ballroom and hotel rooms were newly renovated, which even further made our guests feel very comfortable.”

Favorite Moment

“My favorite moment was definitely our first dance, as well as dancing with all of our friends and family throughout the night,” says Stephanie. “One very special aspect of our wedding was that none of our guests could stay off of the dance floor. The dance floor was consistently flooded with our guests which is exactly what we wanted to happen! This was one of the many main selling points for choosing the Windsor Ballroom because of their massive dance floor.”

Special Detail

“One detail I could not live without was the opportunity to honor my father during my mother and daughter dance,” says Stephanie. “Unfortunately, my father passed away a year prior to our wedding, which no longer allowed me to share that moment with him. However, my mother stepped in and took on that role of dedicating a special dance and walking me down the aisle. While my mother and I shared that moment, we requested one special image of my father holding me the day I was born to be shown on both television screens throughout the whole dance. This allowed our guests to honor his physical absence, while not drastically altering the happy mood of the moment!”

Advice

“Make decisions regarding your wedding that make you as a couple happy,” says Stephanie. “Weddings are not cheap, and this is a celebration of YOUR love together, so make your wedding the day you both always dreamed of, regardless of the opinions of others. The day goes in the blink of an eye, so it is so important to enjoy as much of it as you can with the person you love.”

Honeymoon

“In June, we are spending a week and a half in Florida and dedicating days to traveling to Disney World, Universal Studios, the beautiful beaches and more during our stay,” says Stephanie. “I am so excited that though our wedding has been over for a few months already, that we can still look forward to celebrating our marriage in the summer!”
