Details of the day: My dress was fitted lace with sweetheart neckline. We didn’t have so much a theme, as it was just neutral and natural. The girls wore a pale pink and carried baby’s-breath. My sister-in-law and I made and put together all the center pieces about 3 days before the wedding which were simply baby’s-breath arrangements on top of wood slices. John cut those wood slices a few days before the wedding from a tree stump.
The necklace I wore was comprised of two diamonds. The top diamond was from my Grandmother’s first engagement ring and the bottom diamond was from her “upgrade” engagement ring that Grandpa had made for her after many years of marriage. After my grandmother passed, Grandpa took her rings and had the necklace made for my mother to keep. This was my “something borrowed”.
Your favorite part:We loved being able to see each other at our first look alone. It was a really special moment to be able to have that in private without an entire congregation staring at us. Also, I know this may sound silly, but after our cocktail hour and before the reception started, the two of us were sitting at an empty table in the empty cocktail room waiting for the guests to shuffle into the reception room while they waited for our entrance. I don’t even know if we even exchanged words, but we looked at each other and just smiled. I’ll never forget just sitting there, taking a deep breath and enjoying this private time with John, just the two of us. It was really special.
One word to describe your wedding: Organic
Advice for other brides: If I could offer any advice to future grooms and brides, it would be to take a step back during your day and just ENJOY the moment and the reason why you’re celebrating.
