Their Story: Even before their first date, Tom had the stamp of approval from Samantha’s family. Her brother is Tom’s friend and business partner, and her dad even suggested they go out. Tom, who is 27 and from Ridgefield, and Samantha, 27, of Garwood, clicked immediately and she fell for his kindness. “He has the biggest heart,” Samantha says. “I could tell that from the first time I met him.”
Will You Marry Me? Tom proposed on September 21, 2013, at one of their favorite spots—Hoboken’s Sinatra Park. She knew something special was happening when he mentioned the Earth, Wind & Fire hit “September,” which mentions the 21st night of September. “We always said it’d be great to get married on September 21,” she says, adding that they both love the classic song. But he told her the next time the date would fall on a Saturday wouldn’t be for a few more years and that he wasn’t waiting that long!
The Planning: The couple has seen hundreds of weddings through their work in the wedding industry—she is a music teacher who sings in a wedding band and he co-owns an entertainment company. They planned their wedding together to create a one-of-a-kind event that was unique, elegant and fun.
Details of the Day: They tied the knot at the Eagle Oaks Golf & Country Club on May 24, 2015, before 282 guests in a wedding filled with old-Hollywood glamour. The reception featured flickering candles, blush and ivory flowers and gold accents, giving the ballroom a glamorous and romantic feel.
The Music: With her work as a vocalist and his as a deejay, music was very important. They brought in top-notch audio equipment and turned to a trusted friend to be the deejay. “We wanted our guests to have the most fun on the dance floor and be inspired by the music,” Samantha says. Mission accomplished: “We couldn’t get people to sit for dinner,” Tom adds.
Favorite Detail: Her gown featured an embellished back with a big bow. “I immediately felt like I was back in time,” Samantha says. “It’s unique and I knew that that was me.”
Favorite Moment: Samantha loved being introduced into the ballroom as “Mr. and Mrs.” For Tom, his special moment was seeing Samantha as she walked down the aisle.” “I started bawling my eyes out,” he recalls.
First Dance: Robin Thicke’s “Lost Without U.”
Regrets? They wouldn’t have changed a thing—except to make the party last longer.
