Their Story

It was love at first swipe. After meeting on Tinder in June 2018, Nicole DuCoin, now 33, of Mount Laurel Township, was hesitant to meet with Kyle Cannon, now 37, of Mount Gretna, Pennsylvania, because of the two-hour driving distance between them. Daily phone calls and occasional FaceTime sessions kept them in touch until the stars aligned at the Jersey Shore. Nicole and Kyle frequently spent their summers in Ocean City, where both of their families owned vacation homes. One day, they decided to meet up to play frisbee and bask in the sun. Sparks flew, and later, during a private moonlit stroll on the beach, they shared their first kiss. For the next two-and-a-half years, their relationship was mostly long distance, with Nicole and Kyle taking turns traveling to each other on weekends.

The Proposal

In June 2020, while spending a day at the beach with mutual friends, a notification pinged on Nicole’s phone; a new order had been placed at her Etsy shop, Frankadelphia. “Kyle knows whenever I hear an order come in, I get excited and check my phone,” explains Nicole. Kyle had ordered a cup that read, “Nicole, will you marry me?” in customized text. “We both cried with happiness,” she says. “It was a magical moment and the whole beach applauded.”

Their Renault Winery Wedding

For their “tropical citrus disco”-themed nuptials on June 18, 2022, the couple chose a color palette of coral, orange and pink mixed with dark emerald and pops of magenta. Incorporating retro-inspired fonts and patterns, and contrasting them with loose, wild floral arrangements, introduced dimension and texture to the subtly rustic vineyard ballroom at Renault Winery. Personalized signature cocktails and drink stirrers showed off the couple’s personality and added unique fun. Bringing the tropical theme full circle, a steel drum player set the tone at cocktail hour—a fun surprise for Kyle, an avid fisherman and Jimmy Buffett fan. The couple’s first dance song was “Whatever It Is” by Zac Brown Band.

The Menu

At cocktail hour, there was seafood aplenty—ahi tuna tartar, bacon-wrapped scallops and Cajun shrimp satay—as well as an assortment of cuisine, including chicken tikka masala, Cuban sandwiches, and Mediterranean-inspired charcuterie. At dinner, guests started with a spring melon salad with goat cheese, followed by a choice of mesquite salmon, herb-roasted French chicken, or filet mignon with peppercorn and cognac glaze. An almond and vanilla pastry cream cake featured a figurine of the pair’s pooch, Ellie.

Favorite Detail

When asked about her wedding must-have, Nicole’s answer was simple: her dad. In helping to design and build virtually all of the wedding decor, Nicole’s father put in countless hours to prepare for the big day. “I’m so lucky to have him by my side as the best dad and business partner for my Etsy shop,” she says.

Advice

“If at all possible, buy your home before your wedding to help put the budget into perspective,” says Nicole.

Honeymoon

The newlyweds spent one week at Sanctuary Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic. Months later, they jetted off to the Amalfi Coast, where they took in breathtaking views, swam in caves and ate pesto ravioli. Today, they’re home in Barrington, where they spend their time remodeling and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles.
