Priscilla and Paul Segars opted for a whimsical wedding at The Gables in Beach Haven. The couple, who have been friends for 25 years, had an Alice in Wonderland-themed event planned by Sarah Montgomery Events.

“We got engaged at Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park while on vacation,” says Priscilla.

Priscilla Connors and Paul Segars exchanged vows in a wedding ceremony at The Gables in Beach Haven on May 20, 2023. The couple, who have been friends for 25 years, opted for a whimsical celebration at the Jersey Shore, with an Alice in Wonderland-themed event.

The couple celebrated their love while enjoying live music from a band. “It was a Victorian Inn, which caught our eyes from the moment we stepped into the lobby,” says Priscilla. “We were transported into another world. There was a baby grand piano, as well as elegant decor and a romantic ambience which kept bringing us back to The Gables over and over again.”

Unique Theme

“The Alice in Wonderland theme was representative of our personalities and how we wanted the day to be—fun, celebratory and not too serious,” says Priscilla. “The This Way, That Way sign was a fun touch and added to the theme. The custom drink cards as well as the signature Alice in Wonderland drinks and beer with special Alice in Wonderland names and custom labels also added to the fun.” The custom drinks cards were made by Joy Cards and Sue Vilardi of Set The Bar provided the bartender service.

Favorite Moment

“Tim Williams band was our favorite part of the night,” says Priscilla. “The crowd went wild dancing to the songs we picked. Due to the rain, we were all crowded into the band area, but that made it more of an experience! Everyone was having a blast dancing with each other in this close space.”

The Menu

The topsy turvy cake was milk chocolate with sea salt and caramel by Lily Gray Sweets.

Bridal Style

Vera Wang, whimsical and flowy gown was reflective of my personality and the Alice and Wonderland theme. Priscilla’s Vera Wang dress was also representative of the Alice in Wonderland theme. The dress had tulle carefully yet whimsically placed throughout the dress and was princess-like at the same time.

Honeymoon

The couple went on a Silver Sea cruise to Spain, Gibraltar, Morocco and Portugal while sharing their passion for food and wine.
