Pina and Amit at Valley Regency

Our story began in 2005, when we met through mutual friends while I was home for the summer during college. Our first date was to see the movie Wedding Crashers, which perhaps, foreshadowed our future. When it was almost time for me to head back to the University of Scranton, we knew that our story couldn’t end with the summer. We spent whatever weekends we could together and spoke on the phone often. The rest is history.Pina and Amit at Valley Regency

I always wanted to spend my birthday at the beach, but the Jersey Shore is no place for a winter birthday. So, we planned a trip to Aruba. On my birthday, Amit casually mentioned he made reservations for dinner at our hotel- the restaurant was right on the beach. When it was time for dinner, we walked towards the restaurant and then Amit said he had arranged for a private table on the beach. We walked along a path in the sand lined by flowers and lanterns leading up to our beautifully set table. Amit popped the question as the sun was setting on the beach and arranged for a photographer to capture the moment. It definitely became a vacation to remember.Pina and Amit at Valley Regency

We downsized to a micro-wedding on our original date with our ceremony at Scared Heart Roman Catholic Church in Lyndhurst,  with a dinner to follow at our original wedding venue at Valley Regency in Clifton. Sky Cinema Films live-streamed our wedding for those who could not be with us. We planned for it to rain all day, since the weather predicted heavy winds and rain from a hurricane that would be passing through. While it rained for most of the morning, it became overcast as we headed to the church for the ceremony and the sun started to shine as we walked out of the church. My grandmother turned 90 years old the day before our wedding so we surprised her with a second cake just for her birthday, also provided by Palmeros. The day ended up being so much more than we thought it would be and a great precursor to our vow renewal and big reception next year at Valley Regency.Pina and Amit at Valley Regency

We picked Valley Regency because of their outdoor gardens. We wanted a space that had a beautiful ballroom but also an outdoor space to take pictures and for our guests to enjoy the summer weather.Pina and Amit at Valley Regency

I purchased my gown at my first appointment at Park Avenue Bridals. I wanted a dress with a beautiful train, but something that wasn’t too heavy for an August wedding. It was one of the first few dresses I tried on during my appointment and after each dress I tried on after that I kept going back to compare them to this one dress. Kathy at Park Avenue Bridals had me put the dress on again and I just knew that this was the one.Pina and Amit at Valley Regency

Our vows. After all the worrying and re-planning for a micro-wedding, saying our vows and exchanging rings made all the stress and worry fall away. Our day was not as we imagined it would be but turned out so much better than we had thought.Pina and Amit at Valley Regency

Love truly is not canceled. Times are tough right now but saying “I do” to the one you love is worth it no matter what the details of the day end up looking like.Pina and Amit at Valley Regency
