Shiochee & Julienne
Their Story
Julienne and Shiochee tied the knot at the Madison Hotel in Morristown on March 24, 2023. They originally met during their first week of freshman year at Rutgers University. “It was smores night, and I almost knocked him into the fire pit (by accident!),” says Julienne.

“After that meet-cute, we didn’t really talk again until two years later. Shiochee invited me to his apartment warming party and, with the help of our mutual friends, we ended up going on our first date soon after.”

The Proposal
Shiochee popped the question while the couple was vacationing in Aruba. He’d originally planned to propose 1.5 years earlier, during a planned trip to Italy the couple was going to take following his graduation from medical school, but the pandemic sidelined those plans.

Choosing the Venue
The Madison Hotel’s conservatory room is “absolutely breathtaking and was the type of whimsical and romantic ambience we always dreamed of,” the couple says.

Details of the Day
“We opted for a color theme that reflects the freshness and vibrancy of spring,” says Julienne.

They chose a palette of neutral tones, but added pops of color through florals with a combination of poppy pink, daffodil yellow and tangerine orange.

The bright and bold colors provided a stunning contrast against the softer, more subdued tones to create the “elegant and playful” visual that Julienne and Shiochee wanted, the bride says.

The Bride’s Gown
Julienne found her dream wedding gown, with its lovely floral detailing, at David’s Bridal. “The moment I put it on, I just knew that it was the perfect dress for my big day,” she says. “David’s Bridal had such a great selection of stunning and affordable gowns, and I am so grateful that I was able to find my perfect match there.”

Favorite Moment
“When my husband and I got to read private love letters after our first look,” Julienne says.

Advice for Other Couples
“Don’t stress, everything will be okay! It’s easy to get caught up in the details and worry about things going wrong on your big day, but remember that this is a special moment in your life that you will cherish forever.”
