Melissa and Andrew’s Wedding at David’s Country Inn

Details of The Day: We didn’t have a theme in mind, but we love the show Fixer Upper so we knew we wanted something a little rustic, classy, and for the color palette to be light and airy. David’s Country Inn provided that classic feel. When we saw the newly renovated Warren Suite where we would get ready, we were so excited because it looks like something right out of that show! One of my favorite moments of getting ready was putting on my gown in the dressing room of the suite. It was an emotional moment for my mom, sister, and I that we will never forget. When it was time for the first look it was drizzling outside, but the front porch at David’s provided a perfect backdrop. The ceremony was at our church where Andrew’s mom had done a beautiful job designing programs to hand out and working with Monika to put flowers on the pews and altar. It was an intimate ceremony and since we had hand picked the hymns ourselves, it was very personal. Afterwards we took many pictures outside of the church and the venue. The cocktail hour area had a piano where a talented pianist played as the guests roamed the spacious area. At the reception, we were introduced and walked down the stairs to one of Andrew’s favorite songs. We had a memorable first dance and later in that night we surprised my cousin with a cake and sang happy birthday to her. The rest of the night was a blur of good food, dancing, and laughter. Dan from David’s Country Inn took care of everything so we could enjoy the night. As for décor, we handmade our favors, menu cards, place card holder, and signs so they would all feel cohesive. We dedicated a space in honor of our grandparents who had passed and I had two charms on my bouquet with pictures of my Grandmas as well. David’s was so beautifully decorated, the only thing we added was some garland and two lanterns behind the sweetheart table. Even to this day, our guests comment about how much they loved the venue. We were so happy we found David’s Country Inn as they really helped up create the wedding we had envisioned. [sponsor] The Menu: My family is of Italian decent so good food was always a big piece of any family gathering. We knew someone who had attended a wedding at David’s and they said the food was fantastic. We were able to try so many options at the tasting that it made picking the menu easy. A few of our guests said there was so much variety of food at the cocktail hour they were pleasantly surprised when there was a full meal at the reception! My favorite was the Peach Tart with Goat Cheese & Honey while Andrew’s was the Chateabriand. Everyone warned us beforehand that we would be too busy to eat at our wedding, but we made sure we found time because the food was just too amazing to miss out on! Favorite Moment: Bride: We both love Frank Sinatra and had decided to take a few ballroom dance classes before the wedding. My favorite moment was surprising our guests by doing a ballroom style first dance to Love Is Here to Stay. The tall ceilings, elegant chandeliers, stringed lights and candles on the balcony were a perfect backdrop for that moment and made it feel like a fairytale. Groom:  Our entrance from the balcony and down the main staircase, when our DJ announced us Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Stephens. Couldn’t Live Without: Cassi was such a big help during the wedding planning stages and then was a complete rockstar the day of the wedding. If I needed bridal shop recommendations or advice on jewelry she was always happy to share her expertise. On the wedding day, her bubbly personality kept everyone upbeat even as the weather took a turn, she kept us ahead of schedule, and reminded us when we almost forgot to bring the rings to the ceremony! Afterward, she gave us little inserts to put in our thank you cards that made sharing our wedding photos with our loved ones super easy. I truly believe the whole process would not have been as stress free or fun if we hadn’t had Cassi and her team on board! Something That Went Wrong: It rained in the morning which foiled our plans to go to a park to take pictures. Our prayers were answered when the rain let up right after the ceremony so we were able to take all of the pictures outside of the church and David’s as well. Cassi was so amazing at thinking on her feet and utilizing the space, we didn’t even feel the need to go to the park after all. Because we didn’t have to travel to the park, we ended up being able to attend cocktail hour and we love the pictures taken right outside of David’s! It was a great lesson that even when things aren’t working out how you planned sometimes that means something even better is about to happen. Favorite Detail: The Groom: The exquisite wedding dress my wife picked out. Our “first look” took my breath away. She looked absolutely amazing. The Bride: Andrew and I had fun making the seating place card holder together. Now it’s on the wall in our home office with pictures of friends and family clipped to the twine. Honeymoon: The Outer Banks in North Carolina is a special place for us so we drove down there for a few days. We watched the sunrise on the beach, went swimming in the ocean, and sat on the porch talking and listening to music at night. Eventually we would like to take a typical honeymoon on an island, but NC was perfect for relaxing after a very busy year and wedding planning.
