Details of the day: We had the perfect wedding day! We actually had two. On Friday April 15th, 2016 my husband and I were married in a small ceremony in the eyes of the church with just close family and our bridal party. This was actual our rehearsal dinner and surprise to our bridal party. On Saturday April 16th, 2016 we had a huge celebration! The weather was absolutely perfect blue skies and cool out. We woke up to a 5k race in the morning which had thousands of people outside. However we didn’t mind that at all! We started our day with hair and makeup and some last minute wedding decorations. I was so excited to wear a bracelet I had made with all of my grandparents handwriting on it so they could be with me on my wedding day.
Our wedding was completely DIY! From the centerpieces to the decor and the bouquets to the boutonnieres! We had a beach wedding in historical Asbury Park. We did our first look inside The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel and it was absolutely perfect! Not only did I do a first look with my groom, but I wanted to do a first look with my bridesmaids. Best decision I ever made! We then hit the boardwalk and took some great pictures on the beach right before our ceremony. We exchanged our own vows to make it different from the night before! After our ceremony we went to enjoy our cocktail hour which was all boardwalk food. From cheesesteaks to mini pork roll sandwiches, we had it all!
My husband and I then went to change our shoes which was surprise #1. As we entered the room they lit up! Yes we wore light up shoes! Everyone couldn’t believe it! Our next surprise was during my husband’s dance with his mother – Since I am a dance teacher I choreographed a dance for them. No one was expecting it and it was just what my mother-in-law wanted! Surprise #3 was my competition dance students coming to perform at our reception. The backstreet boys are my favorite and they created a piece with all Backstreet Boys songs. Our guests absolutely loved it! Our last surprise was an inflatable deer. Yes, I know that sounds strange, but it was a surprise to us too! When my husband and I first met there were some very large deer by my car that scared me and it become a joke that I was afraid of deer. So, one of my Matrons of Honor (I had 5) decided to bring in an inflatable deer during her speech. We were cracking up! Well, this deer went crowd surfing the entire night! We seriously had the most unforgettable wedding and we wish we could relive it all over again!
Your favorite part: My favorite part by far was marrying my best friend. We have been together for 8 years and engaged for 2 1/2. We put so much hard work and effort into our day and it was absolutely perfect. We could not have asked for a better day! When you love someone as much as we love each other everything works out. We are a team and always have been!
Advice for other brides: Don’t sweat the small stuff. Don’t worry about the weather! At the end of the day this will still be the best day of your life. Live in the moment and cherish every aspect of your day! No matter what you are marrying the love of your life and that is what makes it the best day ever!
